Butler Police12:40 a.m. Sunday — Brittany L. Raybuck, 29, of Clay Township was arrested after she allegedly broke into her former boyfriend’s house and assaulted him.The victim, Dennis Freehling, told police that Raybuck forced her way through the locked back door and into his home on the 700 block of South Main Street, according to court documents.Once inside, police said, she struck Freehling in the head. He said he shoved her off him and called 911. The defendant fled the house and drove away in her car. Freehling suffered scratches and swelling on his face and head.Police later arrested Raybuck, who was arraigned on felony charges of burglary and trespass and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. She was placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.Friday — Police charged Desmond R. Best, 35, of Butler with misdemeanor drug possession after he suffered an apparent overdose Sept. 16 at an apartment on the 300 block of West New Castle StreetWhen police got there, paramedics were already tending to Best, who was initially reported to be unconscious, court documents said. He was revived but declined further medical treatment.Police said he was searched and found with two stamp bags of suspected heroin. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance.2:22 p.m. Thursday — Samantha L. Walker, 19, of Butler was found with suspected drug contraband after county probation officers made a visit to her apartment on Fourth Street.The probation officers notified police when they were unable to get Walker, who is on house arrest, to open the door. Once police arrived, she opened the door. Police said they found a drug cooking spoon on the bathroom sink.Walker is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Cody D. Jenkins, 21, of Summit Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash about 8 p.m. Sept. 2 on Route 8 north near the Co-Gos store where his pickup struck a guardrail.Jenkins told police he lost control of the truck while lighting a cigarette. But police suspected speed was a factor, estimating he was traveling about 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. He also smelled of alcohol, according to court documents.He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.184 percent, more than double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit. In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving at an unsafe speed.
State Police, ButlerTuesday — Larry Kriess reported that someone defaced a Hillary Clinton campaign sign in the front yard of his home on Chicora Road in Summit Township. The word “Trump” was spray painted in red over the sign. Damage was estimated at $30.The vandalism happened between 8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.10:30 p.m. Saturday — Nathan H. Stanley III, 26, of Pittsburgh was arrested for DUI on New Castle Road at Butler Commons.Police said they smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol while talking to Stanley, who admitted having a few beers at a wedding reception. He told police he was headed to a hotel when they stopped him.A subsequent breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.218 percent, court documents said.Stanley was arraigned on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license and disregarding traffic lanes. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bail following arraignment.7:29 p.m. Sunday — Diana L. Gosnell, 68, of Karns City lost control of her minivan and struck a ditch on Glennwood Way just east of Lakeshore Drive in Center Township. Gosnell was not injured but the van had to be towed.Police cited her for disregarding traffic lanes and not wearing a seat belt.
State Police, New Castle6:30 a.m. Tuesday — Michael B. Collins, no age given, was badly hurt when the car he was driving struck a trailer that came off a tractor truck in Scott Township. Lawrence County.Police said Collins was traveling north on Route 19 as Carllee William Lewis, 47, of New Castle was making a right turn from Route 956. Lewis’ trailer detached, blocking the northbound lane on Route 19, a police report said.Collins was unable to stop his 2007 Pontiac G5 and hit the front of the trailer head-on. He was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown Hospital with “major injuries,” the report said. He was listed this morning in fair condition.Lewis was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Collins’ car sustained severe damage. No charges were immediately filed and police said their investigation continues.5:02 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Holly L. Henry, 30, of Renfrew struck a motorcycle at Route 19 and Harlansburg Road in Scott Township, Lawrence County. No one was injured. Police cited Henry for failing to stop at a stop sign. Vincent J. Albertini, 20, of New Castle was the other driver.
