Butler PoliceTuesday — Andrew J. Moser, 30, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash last month when his vehicle struck a utility pole along East Jefferson Street.When police found Moser about 8:35 p.m. Aug. 21 he was unresponsive, apparently from a drug overdose. A medical crew administered Narcan, which revived him, according to a police report.But when he came to, police said, he tried to put his car into drive and shut the driver’s door. He was ordered out of the vehicle and arrested. Later, he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.He had suspected drugs in his system as well as a blood-alcohol level of 0.16 percent, double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.Moser is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.12:58 p.m. Thursday — Donna A. Digiacomo, 47, of Concord Township was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted merchandise at the Kmart store at Pullman Square. During her getaway, police said, Digiacomo pushed an employee.Police caught her a short time later. Officers searched her and found a crack cocaine pipe, court documents said.Because Digiacomo used force during the crime, police said, she is charged with robbery. And since she has two prior shoplifting convictions, she is charged with a felony count of retail theft.She was arraigned on those charges as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
Middlesex Twp PoliceMonday — Michael J. Warsing, 32, of Buffalo Township is accused of repeatedly texting an ex-girlfriend and appearing at or around her home in the 800 block of Deer Creek Road.The alleged victim, Diana Amsler, told police that she and Warsing lived together at the home until their relationship dissolved in January.But the defendant apparently had trouble dealing with the breakup, police said.He is accused of driving to the home in April and getting into an altercation with Amsler and her new boyfriend. Since their breakup, documents said, he also sent her numerous unwelcomed text messages and left notes and other items at the home.Police charged him with stalking, defiant trespass and harassment.
State Police, ButlerSunday — A spare tire was stolen from a utility trailer on Oak Leaf Drive in Jefferson Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.5:11 p.m. Saturday — Jared L. Titley, 18, of Butler swerved his car to avoid a deer and struck a tree along Wright Road just north of Hooker Road in Concord Township. Titley was not hurt, but his car had to be towed.Friday — Police charged Phillip J. Romito, 58, of Clay Township with drunken and drugged driving in connection with a one-vehicle wreck at 2:16 a.m. Aug. 12 in Clay Township.Romito, who suffered minor injuries, said the crash happened when he swerved to avoid a deer on the road at Route 138 and McGregor Road. Police noted they smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol on his breath, court documents said.He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.139 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. He also had marijuana in his system, documents said.Romito is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and a controlled substance, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.Thursday — Diane M. Weiland, 59, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 2:45 a.m. July 28 in the 500 block of West New Castle Street in Butler.Police said Weiland admitted having six beers that night, according to court documents. A blood test later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.16 percent, or twice the state’s legal limit.In addition to DUI, she is charged with making an improper turn and driving without headlights.Thursday — Police charged Hakeem J. Dent, 26, of Center Township with DUI in connection with a traffic stop at 11:55 p.m. Sept. 5 at South Monroe and East Jefferson streets in Butler. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.08 percent. Dent is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.
State Police, Mercer2:30 p.m. Sunday — Three unknown shoplifters, described as black women, are suspected of swiping merchandise from the Tommy Hilfiger store at the Premium Outlets store in Springfield Township. The suspects allegedly stashed items in their purses.Two of the women are heavyset and believed to be in their 40s; the other woman is thin and in her late 20s. Police said their investigation continues.Sunday — A suspected shoplifting couple stole a combined $2,000 in merchandise from a Premium Outlets store on three separate days this month.The unknown suspects are described as a man and woman, both black and between 30 and 40 years old. Police believe they struck at the Nike store at 5:19 p.m. Sept. 1, at 2:50 p.m. Thursday and at 4:18 p.m. Sunday.Anyone with information is asked to call 724-66-6162.Sunday — A car owned by a Valencia man was one of three vehicles broken into at the Lake Wilhelm’s North Shore Bike Trail parking lot in New Vernon Township. Unspecified property was taken from the vehicles between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.Friday — An unknown thief stole money from a 25-year-old Grove City woman’s purse while she was at work at Primanti Brothers on Route 208 in Springfield Township. The theft happened between 4:45 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday.
State Police, KittanningTuesday — Police reported that the fire marshal’s office is investigating a blaze last week that destroyed a vacant home in Washignton Township, Armstrong County. The fire about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 7 caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the abandoned house on Adrian Sherrett Road.The home is owned by the Viola McCanna estate. No one was injured.Sunday — An unknown thief stole a Honda generator, valued at $1,000, from a shed at a campsite on Tarrtown Road in East Franklin Township. The generator, owned by an 87-year-old New Bethlehem man, was taken between Sept. 4 and Sunday.
