Adams Twp. Police12:45 a.m. Sunday — Timothy J. Krofchik, 36, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, was arrested for suspected drunken driving after he made an illegal U-turn on Adams Ridge Boulevard at Adams Pointe Boulevard. He failed a field sobriety test and was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test, according to documents. He acted out at the hospital and refused to take a blood test.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Krofchik, who has two prior convictions for drunken driving, on charges of DUI, a stop sign violation, making an illegal turn and disorderly conduct.He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.
State Police, Butler7:31 a.m. Sunday — Amanda Rusch, 33, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed her vehicle in Parker Township.Rusch lost control of her car traveling south on Route 268 and struck one embankment on the east side of the road before crossing the road and hitting a second embankment on the west side, according to a police report.Police said Rusch suffered a minor injury. Her vehicle had to be towed. The Parker Volunteer Fire Department and Petrolia Ambulance assisted at the scene.Sunday — Police reported they found an all-terrain vehicle June 3 on trails along the western side of Herman Road in Summit Township. The vehicle is a green Kawasaki model. A partial vehicle identification number was found on the vehicle but police have been unable to identify the owner.A police report noted that the investigation continues but provided no other information.8:15 p.m. Saturday — A 26-year-old Kittanning man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 28 north at exit 17 in Buffalo Township.Police said charges against the man, who was found with suspected marijuana, are pending results of lab tests.5:30 p.m. Saturday — Mark A. Rodgers, 29, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife, 30-year-old Breane Jernigan- Rodgers, during a domestic dispute at the couple's home on Dusty Lane in Clearfield Township.Police said Jernigan- Rodgers went to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, for treatment of injuries in the altercation. She told troopers that her husband struck her in the face with a “large stack of mail,” according to court documents.After being hit in the face, she recounted, the back of her head, in turn, hit the bedroom door. Among her injuries was a cut lip.Rodgers was not at home after police spoke to his wife at the hospital. But he later came to the barracks and provided police with a statement.District Judge Sue Haggerty subsequently arraigned him on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail following arraignment.2:57 a.m. Saturday — Joseph J. Raab, 20, of Butler Township was twice the legal limit for alcohol, according to court documents, when he crashed his car into a yard along Route 8 in Center Township.A trooper on patrol came upon the wreck that showed the car struck a tree and rolled back down to the road. The officer noted that he saw no sign of skid marks to indicated the driver tried to brake.Raab, who was found standing near the car, appeared to be intoxicated. He told police that he was traveling home from the Pittsburgh Steelers' exhibition game Friday night and admitted to drinking “several beers,” documents said.The suspect failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was taken to the barracks and given a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.161 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Raab on charges of DUI, underage drinking, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.8:32 p.m. Friday — A 34-year-old Armstrong County man, who police did not identify, was caught with 51 stamp bags of suspected heroin after a traffic stop on Route 28 north at exit 17 in Buffalo Township.Police said the man also appeared impaired and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Charges against the suspect are pending lab results.
State Police, Franklin11 p.m. Saturday — An unknown shoplifter made off with a cell phone charger from the CoGo's store on Route 208 in Scrubgrass Township.12:48 p.m. Saturday — A driver, who police did not identify, lost control of his pickup truck and crashed on Whitehall Road just east of Panther Spring Road in Richland Township, Venango County. The truck rolled on its side after it traveled through a ditch.The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
State Police, Kittanning10:30 p.m. Saturday — Dylan Sanders, 24, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle on French's Corner Road in Washington Township, Armstrong County.6:42 p.m. Saturday — Three men were caught on a boat on Mile Long Road in North Buffalo Township without the owner's permission. Police said the boat, which is described as an old, barge-style boat that is no longer functional, is posted with a “no trespassing” sign on its side.Facing trespass charges in the case are Michael G. Boyd, 33, of West Virginia; Jeffrey A. Cable Jr., 33, of Saltsburg, Indiana County; and Lucas D. Cable, 19, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County12:57 p.m. Saturday — A 27-year-old Saxonburg man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after he was stopped for speeding on Route 28 north in Harrison Township, Allegheny County.The driver was clocked in a vehicle traveling 83 mph in a 65 mph zone. A 40-year-old Saxonburg man, who was riding in the car, was caught with suspected heroin and other drug contraband. Police did not identify the passenger.Police said charges against both men are pending results of lab tests.
State Police, Mercer12:02 a.m. Friday — Joseph R. Schwalm, 46, of Mercer was arrested for felony assault and drunken driving after he allegedly forced his wife's vehicle, occupied by two teenagers and a young child, off South Cottage Road in Jackson Township, Mercer County.Police said the vehicular altercation occurred after Schwalm got into a heated argument with his 45-year-old wife. The woman decided to leave the house and drive to another family member's home.Also leaving the couple's house with the suspect's wife were three others — a 19-year-old woman, 14-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy. A police report did not identify the relationship between the woman and her passengers.While the alleged victims were traveling to a would-be safe haven, police said, Schwalm got into his vehicle and started following them. He is accused of forcing their vehicle off the road and into a ditch. The police report did not indicate any injuries in the crash.Schwalm faces several charges including aggravated assault and driving under the influence.
