12:49 p.m. Thursday — Devon A. Bunnell, 19, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Claudia Montgomery, during a domestic dispute at their home in the 200 block of Cecelia Street.

Montgomery told police that the altercation began as an argument over money, according to court documents. He is accused of pushing her against a wall. She was holding her infant at the time.

Police said Montgomery suffered minor injuries. Her child was not hurt.

Bunnell was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.

Wednesday — Police filed charges against Jason T. Ewing, 30, of Butler Township stemming from a fight in May outside the 7-Eleven store on Pillow Street.

A patrol officer spotted the fracas involving several men at the gas pumps. When the officer approached the men, Ewing and two others, Thomas A. Purcell, 23, of Lyndora and Markis D. Roland, 35, of Youngstown, Ohio, got into a car and tried to flee. But police stopped the car, which was driven by Leah Labryer, 39, of Saxonburg.

Police said they noticed on the driver’s seat floor a bag containing suspected drug contraband including copper screen, a cooking spoon, straw, three empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a used syringe.

During the investigation, police learned that the fight started when three men made a comment about the girlfriend of another man.

Police eventually searched the car and found a baggie of suspected crack cocaine and more contraband. Ewing, documents said, owns the car. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct.

Police previously charged Labryer, Purcell and Roland in the incident. Labryer is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Purcell and Roland are both charged with disorderly conduct.

2:30 a.m. Saturday — Nicholas J. Stockert, 23, of Butler lost control of his car which glanced off a tree after hitting a ditch and becoming airborne along Glenn Road in Clay Township. Police cited Stockert for disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving, failing to immediately notify police of an accident and abandoning a vehicle on a road.

Tuesday — Kale B. Jones, 19, of Prospect was charged with running from and struggling with police following a traffic stop last month in Franklin Township.

Jones was a passenger in the car that police stopped about 1 a.m. July 30 on Route 488 near Unionville Road. The teen ran but was quickly caught.

But he continued to pull away from a trooper trying to place him in handcuffs. Police said during the arrest they smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol on the teenager’s breath.

Jones is charged with resisting arrest and underage drinking.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Franklin[/naviga:h3]

7:50 p.m. Sunday — Kevin. P. Jordan, 56, of Emlenton was hurt when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on Airport Road near Whitehall Road in Richland Township, Venango County

Jordan was taken by Emlenton Ambulance to an unspecified hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

9:01 p.m. Tuesday — Two men, one from Butler County, face drug charges stemming from a traffic stop on Route 38 in Scrubgrass Township. Police said they later arrested the 39-year-old driver of Clarion for suspicion of drugged driving.

The driver and his 31-year-old passenger of Butler both were found with a small amount of suspected marijuana. The Butler man also had drug paraphernalia.

Charges against both men are pending lab results. Police did not identify either suspect.

12:34 a.m. Sunday — A 53-year-old Rimersburg woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 in Monroe Township. Charges are pending lab results.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Sunday — A thief stole a .22-caliber rifle from a home in the 600 block of Old Mercer Road in Springfield Township. The rifle, owned by a 29-year-old woman, is described as black with a synthetic stock. The gun was taken between 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

6:45 p.m. Saturday — Matthew Cushing, 24, of Emlenton was one of two staff members assaulted by a 17-year-old detainee at a juvenile detention facility.

The suspect, Michael Shaffer, assaulted Cushing and Rodney Wise Sr., 47, of New Castle after threatening both staffers at the Youth Educational Services Academy on Greenville Road in Coolspring Township.

A police report did not indicate if anyone was injured in the altercation. Shaffer faces aggravated assault charges.

8:51 a.m. Wednesday — Carol A. Williamson, 77, of Grove City was hurt in a three-vehicle wreck in Pine Township, Mercer County. The crash happened when a pickup truck struck the left, front side of a sport utility vehicle Williamson was driving on North Broad Street.

Williamson was waiting to turn when the pickup driven by Adam J. Fraterrigo, 28, of Sugar Grove, Warren County hit her vehicle. The pickup continued traveling into the side of a tractor-trailer that was stopped behind the SUV.

Williamson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with apparent minor injuries.

7:44 a.m. Wednesday — One person was injured when a driver ran a red light and collided with another vehicle on Route 208 at the Interstate 79 south off-ramp in Springfield Township

Susan C. Patton 51, of Sharon, who was driving an SUV, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with a minor injury. She was wearing a seat belt.

Police said Patton was traveling through the intersection with a green light when another SUV, driven by Connie S. Sarver, 54, of Prospect, did not stop at the red light, causing the collision. Police cited Sarver for a traffic light violation.
