Butler Police8:07 p.m. Saturday — Employees at the Chop Shop on North Main Street found Michael D. Hillwig, 28, of Karns City apparently passed out laying on the gravel lot in back of the restaurant.A Butler Ambulance Service crew was called after the employees were unable to awaken him. He was placed in an ambulance and eventually regained consciousness.A search of Hillwig turned up a marijuana pipe and glass container with 6.6 grams of suspected marijuana in it, according to court documents.He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.4:47 p.m. Friday — Brandon A. Williams, 21, of Oakland Township was caught opening an apartment door without the tenant’s permission on the 200 block of West Penn Street. He apparently was looking for the tenant’s granddaughter, according to court documents.Police charged Williams with defiant trespass. The tenant and police had told Williams that he was not to return there due to prior incidents, documents said.11:51 a.m. Sunday — Charles A. Ragland, 44, no known address, was picked up on an arrest warrant while walking on the 200 block of North Elm Street.Officers were directing traffic around a sink hole at North Elm and East Walnut streets when they spotted Ragland. City police were already looking for him on the warrant they got last month.According to the warrant, Ragland fraudulently used a friend’s Global Cash pay card seven times in May. Ragland at the time had been staying at the card owner’s apartment in Butler.He is accused of making unauthorized transactions totaling $411.Ragland was arraigned on a charge of access device fraud and released Monday after posting $2,500 bail.

Butler Twp Police9 a.m. July 3 — Video surveillance helped police identify the driver of a vehicle that did not stop after hitting an unattended motorcycle at the Butler Commons shopping plaza near the Valley Dairy store. Police cited the suspect, Charles W. Moorhead, 75, of Butler, with hit-and-run.

Slippery Rock Police12:20 a.m. Sunday — Dylan W. Rust, 23, of Franklin, Venango County, was arrested for drunken driving on Midway Alley. Police said Rust appeared impaired when approached by the officer, who also noticed several opened beers cans on the rear floorboard.The officer found four additional empty beer cans in the truck bed along with a cooler containing 16 unopened cans of beer.Rust failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the station for a breath test. The test showed his blood-level was 0.169 percent, according to court documents, more than double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to driving under the influence. Rust is charged with an open container violation, disregarding traffic lanes, driving without valid inspection, driving with worn tires and an improper exhaust system and a seat belt violation.

State Police, Butler5:45 p.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on Lions Road in Center Township. One vehicle stopped on the side of the road, while the other vehicle ended up in the woods.The unidentified driver of the vehicle in the woods had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital, emergency crews said.Police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available.The crash closed Lions Road for about 30 minutes.Unionville Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Township Fire District 3 assisted.12:15 p.m. Tuesday — A vehicle sheared off a utility pole, causing downed power lines on the 400 block of Portman Road in Summit Township. A Central Electric Co-Op crew and the Herman Volunteer Fire Company were called.No one was injured. A police report was not available, and the driver’s name was not known.

State Police, FranklinSaturday — A thief stole a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber pistol from a bedroom at a home on the 600 block of Garden Street in Emlenton. The theft happened between 3 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday.
