10:40 p.m. Thursday — Nathan S. Zmijowski, 30, of Butler was arrested after a confrontation with police at his home in the 300 block of Zeigler Avenue that left one officer with minor injuries.

Zmijowski was arraigned on a charge of resisting arrest and placed in the Butler County Prison on $500 bail.

Police said they were called to the defendant’s house for a noise complaint. Officers also believed he was wanted on an out-of-county warrant, according to court documents.

While one officer knocked on the front door, another officer looked into a rear window and spotted Zmijowski standing against the living room wall. He dropped to his knees and began to crawl away as the officer at the door continued to knock.

While at the home, police said they were able to confirm that Zmijowski was wanted on a warrant issued to Pittsburgh police. That warrant, court records showed, was issued March 17 in connection with a misdemeanor drug case.

The officers identified themselves and ordered the suspect out of the house. But he wouldn’t comply, documents said, even after police warned him that they were prepared to send the K-9 officer inside the home after him.

Police went into the house with the K-9 officer on lead. A search turned up Zmijowski hiding behind items in the basement. During the search, Sgt. David Villotti suffered minor injuries to his neck and back.
