Butler PoliceTuesday — Devin J. Melanson, 23, and Lauren E. Dunmire, 19, both of Butler were both charged with possessing drug-related items connected to an emergency call last week.Crews were sent to the 500 block of North Main Street for a report of a possible drug overdose in the woods. Rescuers told police they saw a man and woman, later identified as Melanson and Dunmire, running across North Main Street onto Polk Street.Police said Melanson initially gave officers a bogus name. He was searched and found with a capped syringe. A search of Dunmire's purse turned up four empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a crack pipe.Each defendant is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Police also charged Melanson with false identification to law enforcement authorities and disorderly conduct.Tuesday — Police charged Bradley S. Cramer, 27, of Butler in connection with a disturbance last month on Second Street. During the altercation about 8:30 p.m. April 17, Cramer allegedly threw a bag of garbage at Brannon Irvin.The trash toss scattered the waste around Irvin's yard in the 300 block of Second Street. Police advised Cramer that he would be getting a ticket for his actions. They also told him to stay away from the Irvin's home.But as officers were leaving, they heard a “loud rant” nearby. The commotion was coming from Cramer, police said, who was directing derogatory remarks and expletives Irvin's way.Cramer is charged with disorderly conduct.Monday — David L. Smith Sr., 49, of Oakland Township was charged with having drug contraband stemming from a traffic stop last week on South Monroe Street at Oesterling's Feed & Farm Supply store.Police about 10:20 p.m. May 3 initially spotted the suspect driving a car that stopped on Center Avenue, where he and his passenger traded seats, court documents said. The car then took off before being pulled over a short time later.The officer ran a check of Smith's license and found he was under suspension. He was arrested after police also learned there was a bench warrant out for him.Police searched Smith and found a crack pipe in a pants pocket. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

Butler County DetectivesMay 5 — Maria Miller-McCabe, 51, of Fairview Township allegedly tried to cheat on her drug screening at the county adult probation office in Butler.A probation officer, court documents said, nabbed Miller-McCabe hiding a bottle containing clean urine. She is charged with attempting to furnish drug-free urine.

Butler County Sheriff3 p.m. May 5 — Scott D. Shea, 37, of Butler landed in trouble with the law after he was caught entering the Butler County Government Center with a set of brass knuckles.Sheriff's deputies said Shea was initially stopped when the walk-through metal detector sounded. A hand-held detector then alerted authorities to a pocket in the suspect's cargo shorts, according to court documents.Deputies said Shea turned over the silver, metal knuckles. He is charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Jack F. Bollinger III, 47, of Butler turned himself in to police on charges of felony and misdemeanor possession stemming from a call for a man passed out in a car about 10:20 p.m. May 3 at a convenience store on Route 68.Police said they found Bollinger with a plastic bag containing suspected heroin. When police weighed the bag it was found to have about 2 grams of the drugs in it. The evidence was later sent to the state police crime lab for further testing.Along with the suspected heroin, police said, Bollinger was found with a capped syringe. Officers also learned he was wanted on a warrant out of Florida; however, authorities in Florida informed police that they did not plan to seek Bollinger's extradition.Police on Monday obtained an arrest warrant for Bollinger, who appeared Wednesday for arraignment on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.6:03 p.m. Tuesday — No one was hurt in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash at Picklegate Crossing. The wreck happened when a vehicle driven by Joshua Z. Titus, 30, of Valencia struck the back of another car driven by Nicholas Green, 26, of Butler.In turn, according to a police report, Green's car was pushed into the rear of a third vehicle driven by Randy Buzard, 19, of Butler. Police cited Titus for driving at an unsafe speed.9:30 a.m. Tuesday — A 15-year-old boy allegedly hit a 14-year-old boy during a fight at the Butler Intermediate High School. The older boy was cited for harassment.6:16 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kathy Clark, 63, of West Sunbury struck the back of a pickup truck, driven by John Compton Jr., 51, of Butler, which stopped suddenly on Evans Road at Route 8.

Grove City PoliceFriday — An unidentified hit-and-run vehicle struck a Slippery Rock woman's car that was parked in the 100 block of South Broad Street. The unoccupied car sustained front-end damage when the other vehicle apparently backed into it between 9 and 9:30 a.m. The unknown driver did not stop.

State Police, Mercer3:50 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown woman driving an unidentified red sport utility vehicle ran a light and struck a car in Springfield Township. She drove away after the collision at Route 208 and Leesburg-Grove City Road. The other driver, Jasmine L. Turney, 23, of New Castle, was not hurt.

State Police, New Castle12:40 p.m. April 17 — Devon T. Cahall, 32, of Callery was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car in Scott Township. Police said the collision occurred when Evelyn R. Schlemmer, 77, of Ellwood City, the other driver, pulled into the path of the cycle on Stoughton Road.Cahall, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered a minor injury. His passenger, Dalton A. Cahall, 10, of Callery, who was wearing a helmet, was not injured.Police said Schlemmer, who was hurt, was cited for improperly entering or crossing a road. Cahall was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle.
