Butler Police4:03 p.m. Friday — Spencer D. Geibel, 34, of Butler Township was caught with suspected drug contraband after police were called for a report of a man passed out in a truck in the 500 block of East Pearl Street.Geibel appeared impaired and an officer found a syringe in the vehicle but he denied taking drugs, according to court documents. He refused medical treatment.Police placed Geibel in a holding cell at the station until he sobered up. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Police filed drug-related charges against Shane A. Nichols, 23, of Butler in connection with a traffic stop last week on Route 68. Nichols’ car was stopped, police said, for having excessive tint.When the officer got to the vehicle he smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana, according to a police report. Nichols is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and having improper sunscreening on his vehicle.Wednesday — Nathan D. Cornetti, 24, of Butler was cited for eight traffic violations in connection with a hit-and-run accident earlier this month that left numerous homes near the township-city line without power.Police said Cornetti was southbound on Old Plank Road about 2:45 p.m. April 5 when his car veered off the road, hitting and shearing off a utility pole. He walked away from the crash, leaving behind his vehicle.Officers later identified Cornetti, who is charged with hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, reckless driving, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving at an unsafe speed.7:52 a.m. Tuesday — Chet M. Williams, 20, of Butler was found with suspected marijuana and other contraband after police got a call for a reckless driver at a convenience store on Route 68.Williams is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Butler County Drug Task ForceMonday — Robert C. Best, 29, of Butler was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a visit by county probation officers last week at a home on Morton Avenue.The officers found Best at the home of another man on house arrest. Both men were sleeping on the floor, court documents said. The visit also turned up suspected contraband including six syringes, two drug cooking spoons, a tourniquet and razor blade.Best claimed he owned the alleged paraphernalia.

State Police, ButlerFriday — Tamili M. Smith, 49, of Center Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop Feb. 9 in Center Township.Police said they stopped Smith’s sport utility vehicle about 11:40 p.m. after they saw her cross the double center line several times on Route 38 just south of Glenwood Way, according to court documents.The suspect appeared intoxicated and she was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports subsequently showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent, documents said, or nearly three times the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.Additionally, the test found she had antidepressant medication in her system.Smith is charged with DUI, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

State Police, Kittanning4:15 p.m. Wednesday — Joshua P. Dunn, 27, of Templeton lost control of his car and struck a rails-to-trails fence before rolling over three times on the trail along River Road in Rayburn Township. He suffered only a bruise from the seat belt he was wearing.Police said Dunn was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.9:35 a.m. Wednesday — A 28-year-old Sarver man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a wreck on northbound Route 28, just north of Exit 9 in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County.Police said that during their crash investigation they found several stamp bags of suspected heroin in the center console of the man’s vehicle. Charges are pending lab results, a police report said.
