Butler Police12:30 a.m. Thursday — Daniel B. Martin, 37, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly broke into a house in the 100 block of Pillow Street. A woman who lives there reported that Martin entered the home uninvited and was damaging property inside. He refused to leave.The suspect eventually left but not before the woman called the landlord, who showed up and called 911, according to court documents. But before leaving, police said, he took a duffel bag belonging to another woman.Officers later found Martin at an apartment in the 300 block of West Brady Street. The also found the suspected stolen duffel bag that was next to the defendant on a couch. The bag contained clothing valued at about $50.Martin was arraigned on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.8:36 p.m. March 9 — Sherrie L. Stiefel, 44, of Butler lost control of her pickup truck and sideswiped a fire hydrant on Pillow Street. She drove away but an officer who saw the crash stopped her at Hansen Plaza. Police said her truck’s passenger side bed fender was damaged and the rear passenger side tire was torn open.The Pennsylvania-American Water Co. was notified about the hydrant that was hit. Police cited Stiefel for hit-and-run.
Butler Twp. PoliceThursday — Police filed additional charges against two Butler women previously accused in a series of vehicle break-ins in April and May 2015.Sara Lee McCollums, 19, of West Sunbury and Tanni K. Milligan, 24, of Butler, in their latest cases, are both charged with two counts of theft from a vehicle and a lone count of conspiracy. They also are each charged with loitering and prowling at night, a misdemeanor.Those charges stem from two car ransackings May 8 in the township’s Bon Aire section. Police said they later recovered the items taken from the vehicles during a warrant search of the home in Butler where they were living.Police, in separate cases filed Thursday, charged McCollums and Milligan with several crimes at the Butler Commons’ Walmart in April and May 2015.The defendants are accused of stealing a donation jar from a customer service desk. Police said they dumped the change from the jar into a coin-counting machine at the store and obtained a cash voucher.Additionally, surveillance video captured the women stealing a drink from a cooler on May 30. Milligan allegedly swiped other beverages on April 11, 13, and 28.Police noted that Milligan also was shown on video being in the store more than a dozen times after she was barred there due to previous incidents, a police report said.In connection with the alleged crimes at Walmart, Milligan is charged with five counts of retail theft, one count of conspiracy to commit theft, 14 counts of defiant trespass and a ticket for littering. McCollums is charged with two counts of retail theft and one count each of theft and conspiracy to commit theft.
