Butler Twp. Police7:15 p.m. Wednesday — A Michigan man was arrested when he returned to the Walmart at Butler Commons several weeks after he allegedly used another person’s credit card at the store without the owner’s permission or knowledge.The suspect, Rodney S. Patterson Jr., 22, of Detroit on Jan. 15 made the fraudulent purchase for $475.94, according to a police report.Patterson was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of access device fraud, identity theft and theft. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

State Police, Butler3:30 p.m. Wednesday — Jeremy W. Hays, 22, of Cranberry Township was arrested after he allegedly displayed a handgun at another motorist during a case of suspected road rage on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.Police spoke to the alleged victim, who told them he was northbound on I-79 near the Route 422 exit when a passenger in the sport utility vehicle showed a Smith & Wesson pistol, according to court documents.Troopers at the New Castle barracks subsequently stopped the SUV that Hays was riding in. He accused the victim of tailgating his friend’s vehicle.“(Hays) related that he became upset and scared and reached into the glove box and retrieved a loaded pistol,” a police affidavit said, “and exhibited the pistol through the back window to the victim.”Police seized the handgun from the defendant.Hays was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison and released Thursday after posting $5,000 bail.

State Police, KittanningWednesday — Police charged Cory J. McGinnis, 27, of Kittanning with illegally trying to buy a gun Oct. 21 at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart in East Franklin Township.He is charged with unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm, a felony. Additionally, he faces a misdemeanor charge of making a false statement to authorities.

State Police, MercerWednesday — An unknown thief made off with $18,774 worth of merchandise after breaking into a vehicle at the Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. The stolen property belonged to the Bath and Body Works store.The suspect broke a lock on the back of the vehicle to get inside. The theft happened between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 11:44 a.m. Wednesday.8 p.m. Tuesday — Two boys escaped from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township, Mercer County, and remain at large. Police identified the pair, both white, as Jarrett Weiss, 16, and Joshua Wilson, 14.Weiss, who is originally from Waynesboro, Franklin County, is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 145 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes. Wilson, who is from San Francisco, is 5 feet 10 inches tall and 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.Anyone with information about the youths’ whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-662-6162, or 911.6:10 a.m. Tuesday — Christopher J. Esposito, 24, of West Pittsburg, Lawrence County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his car in Springfield Township.Police said Esposito lost control of his car at Routes 208 and 19, hitting an embankment, traffic sign and utility pole. He was found walking on Route 208 just a short distance from the wreck.
