Butler PoliceWednesday — David E. Voelker, 55, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a three-vehicle crash about 2:40 p.m. Feb. 4 on First Street.Police said Voelker caused the wreck when he pulled out of the Honey Bear convenience store on East Jefferson Street. He was injured as were the other drivers, Linda Graham and Sandra Pumilla, All three were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.Voelker claimed he “blacked out” due to a health issue, according to court documents. But he also admitted to having “a couple' of 24-ounce cans of beer before he went to the Honey Bear to buy lottery tickets.A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.171 percent, more than double the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.
Butler Twp Police10:35 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Bryan Farinelli, 40, of Butler struck a vehicle that was parked on Hopewell Avenue.3:14 p.m. Sunday — A child was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on Grandview Boulevard. The crash happened when Trina M. Glass, 39, of Butler backed out of her driveway and collided with the other vehicle driven by Rhonda A. Schnitzki, 53, of Butler.A child riding in Glass' vehicle was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor injury.9:04 a.m. Sunday — No one was injured in a pair of separate two-vehicle accidents at Hansen Avenue and Whitestown Road.The first crash happened when vehicles driven by Marilyn Digiacomo, 74, and Gary Cousins, 63, of Butler collided. Police said Digiacomo was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Moments later, Claire Smith, 19, of Cabot hit her brakes to avoid the wreckage, causing Steve Leapline, 65, of Valencia, who was driving behind her, to hit his brakes. Leapline, however, was unable to stop in time and hit the back of Smith's vehicle. Neither Smith nor Leapline were charged.7:51 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Ronald Hume, 44, of Butler struck a fire hydrant while making a left turn from South Benbrook Road onto Greenwood Drive. The hydrant sustained minor damage. Hume's vehicle had to be towed away.3:01 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Teresa Esposto, 73, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on New Castle Road hill. Vallerie Hammond, 58, of Parker was the other driver.5:17 p.m. Friday — Jared McCall, 25, of Butler lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a center concrete barrier after traveling over snow buildup in the middle of Route 422. The vehicle continued across the road and hit an embankment.McCall was not hurt but his vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
State Police, Butler2:10 p.m. Thursday — Snowy road conditions were blamed for a one-vehicle wreck in Clinton Township. George W. Warnagiris, 43, of Pittsburgh lost control of his car and hit a utility pole on Saxonburg Boulevard just south of Hy Vue Drive.1 p.m. Thursday — A New Castle man was hurt when the car he was driving struck a utility pole along Route 422 in Franklin Township. David P. Gallentine, 32, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.Police cited Gallentine for disregarding traffic lanes.12:22 a.m. Thursday — Alexander T. Fazzino lost control of his sport utility vehicle and overturned on Shannon Road just northwest of Camp Fatima Road in Connoquenessing Township.Police cited Fazzino for driving too fast for conditions.Feb. 8 — Joshua A. Sullivan, 31, of Cadogan, Armstrong County was charged with misdemeanor drug possession stemming from a traffic stop about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 2 on Route 422 near Cornetti Road in Clearfield Township.Police initially stopped Sullivan for speeding and allegedly found him with drugs and contraband. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Feb. 4 — An unknown thief stole a silver truck bed off a 67-year-old man's 2004 Chevrolet Silverado that was parked at the owner's home in the 600 block of Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township.Anyone with information about the theft that happened between Jan. 4 and Feb. 4 is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
State Police, Kittanning6:55 a.m. Thursday — No one was injured in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 28 in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, that started when a car driven by Richard A. Dengler, 18, of Leechburg rear-ended another car driven by Scott R. Nuttall, 33, of Apollo.The collision forced Nuttall's vehicle into the back of a car driven by Daniel B. Edwards, 27, of Freeport, which in turn was pushed into the rear of a fourth car driven by Joni L. Stahlman, 37, of Templeton.Police cited Dengler for driving too fast for conditions.9:35 a.m. Sunday — Brian D. Krannacker, no age given, of Rimersburg was hurt when he lost control of his van and crashed down an embankment on Route 28/66 just south of Anderson Creek Road in Rayburn Township.Krannacker, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.
State Police, Mercer11:35 a.m. Monday — A traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township turned up a small amount of suspected marijuana and other contraband belonging to a 23-year-old woman from Franklin, Venango County.Troopers said when they got to the suspect's car, they smelled “an odor of raw marijuana” coming from it. Police did not identify the woman, who faces misdemeanor drug charges.1 a.m. Sunday — Stephen P. Glenn Jr., 27, of Slippery Rock was arrested after he allegedly assaulted 33-year-old Tammy Jo Kachik during a domestic dispute at a home in the 800 block of Old Ash Road in Springfield Township.Police said Glenn allegedly struck the woman in the head at least two times. He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and later released on $10,000 unsecured bail.7:40 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Hemant Goyal, 32, of Harrisburg struck a pickup truck after crossing into oncoming traffic on Interstate 80 in Pine Township, Mercer County. Frank J. Femling, 65, of Hastings, Minn, was the other driver.12:25 p.m. Thursday — Scott A. Wise, 47, of Grove City drove his sport utility vehicle into oncoming traffic and collided with a car on Route 58 at Irishtown Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Henry Robson, 92, of Mercer was the other driver. Shirley L. Robson, 87, of Mercer, his passenger, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. All three occupants were wearing a seat belts.6:15 a.m. Thursday — A tractor-trailer driven by Omar O. Ibrahim, 36, of Columbus, Ohio, rear-ended another rig on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Ibrahim's rig jackknifed after the wreck, spinning the cab into the guardrail.Police cited Ibrahim for driving too fast for conditions, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes. Sung H. Lee, 62, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., was the other driver.
