Grove City PoliceSunday — Several knives valued at $100 were stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of College Avenue. The theft happened between 5 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
State Police, Butler9:27 p.m. Saturday — Two Pittsburgh men were arrested after a traffic stop in Butler turned up suspected cocaine and heroin in their car. Orlando S. Holeman, 37, and Robert M. Jones, 37, were arraigned on felony drug charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail each.Police said Holeman was driving the car that was pulled over on East Cunningham Street for having illegal tinting. Later, police found other traffic violations and they eventually asked for and received Holeman’s consent to search the car, according to court documents.Behind the driver’s seat, police found suspected narcotics packaging materials. In the trunk, troopers seized a backpack vacuum cleaner that allegedly contained two plastic bags each with cocaine and heroin.During the search, according to the document, troopers spotted Jones drop a plastic bag of heroin in front of the police patrol car. Jones was searched and found with $203 in currency.Holeman and Jones are both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Additionally, Holeman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance and driving a vehicle without valid inspection and with improper sunscreening.Dec. 3 — Police charged two Butler Township men with lying on their applications to buy guns earlier this year.The suspects — Scott D. Cyphert, 33, and Joseph Reyes, 38, — are both charged with unlawful attempt to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.Cyphert landed in trouble, according to court documents, when he filled out the required federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form on June 25 when he tried to buy a .357-caliber revolver at Sportsman’s Supply Company in Summit Township.He denied on the form that he had ever been convicted of domestic violence, police said.The information he supplied was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the commonwealth.The PIC system rejected the would-be purchase. Police later learned that Cyphert in 2008 was convicted of domestic violence in Mercer County.Reyes, in completing the ATF form on Jan. 7 when he tried to buy a .40-caliber pistol at Sportsman’s Supply denied that he had ever been committed to a mental institution.The background check, according to court documents, showed that the defendant had a prior mental health commitment in Armstrong County.
State Police, ClarionFriday — Bryon Myers, 44, of Rimersburg allegedly stole three rings from a home on Lone Lane West in Madison Township. He is accused of selling the stolen items to the Jewelry Shop in New Bethlehem.According to a police report, Myers confessed to the theft. Police noted the jewelry was later recovered and returned to the owner.State Police, Franklin12:05 a.m. Wednesday — Cadrick D. Edwards, 24, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was arrested after he was caught with a stolen car at the Emlenton Truck Plaza on Route 208 in Scrubgrass Township. A 38-year-old Connecticut woman owns the car.Edwards was arraigned on charges of receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle, and placed in the Venango County Jail on $25,000 bail.
State Police, Kittanning4:45 p.m. Wednesday — A 26-year-old Natrona Heights man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on a controlled substance on Route 28 about two miles south of the Slate Lick exit in South Buffalo Township.Police said the suspect was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township for a blood test. Charges are pending toxicology reports.9:45 p.m. Monday — Unspecified drugs were found in the Walmart parking lot at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.1:57 a.m. Sunday — Lindsay M. Blythe, 24, of Freeport was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Fourth Avenue in Ford City.7:24 p.m. Nov. 27 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Lori L. Smith, 44, of Kittanning struck a deer on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.
