Butler Police6:41 a.m. Thursday — Brandyn L. Gutauskas, 22, of Brady Township was arrested after he was found inside a Mackey Avenue apartment that was supposed to be vacant.Police were called after someone reported that an intruder with a flashlight was in the building. Officers accompanied by one of the police dogs checked all three apartments before finding the suspect on the landing of the second-floor stairs leading to the attic, according to court documents.The K-9 officer aided in nabbing Gutauskas, who had to be pulled out of a small enclosed area. Patrolman David Villotti injured his left knee and right pinkie finger in making the arrest.Police later contacted the owner, who told officers that all three apartments were vacant and no one had permission to be there.Gutauskas was arraigned on a felony charge of trespass and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.Thursday — Police charged Lauren N. Cardona, 26, of Butler with selling a worthless Walmart gift card to another woman last month. The alleged victim paid $60 for the card, court documents said, but she later found it had a zero balance. Cardona is charged with second-degree theft.
Butler Twp. Police10:30 a.m. Tuesday — Allison Ann Summers, 42, of Butler was cited for disorderly conduct after she caused a disturbance with employees at the Goodwill store on New Castle Road. Police said she was upset about the prices at the store.
Grove City PoliceThursday — An unknown thief swiped a woman’s homemade wooden reindeer from her front porch. The reindeer is described as being painted red with red glitter on it. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Thursday — Samantha F. Bassani, 21, of Slippery Rock was arrested for driving under the influence at South Center and West Pine streets. In addition to DUI, she was cited for improperly approaching an intersection and failing to keep right.Wednesday — Police charged Michael E. Miller, 34, of Grove City and Cole E. Zahuranec, 27, of Edinburg, Lawrence County, in connection with a fight at the Save-a-Lot parking area on Old Mill Road. The men are charged with two misdemeanor counts each of disorderly conduct.
Butler County Sheriff’s Office10:30 a.m. Thursday — An Allegheny County woman suffered an apparent heroin overdose on the fourth floor of the Butler County Government Center in Butler. Deputies said they found Divita N. Williams, 30, of Wilmerding on the floor of the women’s bathroom in the jury assembly room.Williams appeared under the influence or suffering an unknown medical issue, according to court documents. She told authorities that she fell from a diabetic episode.While paramedics treated her, deputies looked in her purse for any medical information and found two loose pills and a glass smoking pipe with suspected drug residue.Williams was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. Her criminal complaint noted that hospital staff gave her the opiate antidote naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, which proved effective. The suspect became “more alert and oriented” after receiving the drug.She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.
State Police, ButlerToday — Police reported they are investigating a case of identity theft in which an unknown suspect filed a fraudulent tax return using the personal information of a 41-year-old Summit Township woman.Sunday — An unknown vandal damaged the side mirrors of 14 different vehicles at a parking lot near the Stone Crest Apartments in the 200 block of Cornish Drive in Slippery Rock. The mirrors were removed from the vehicles and shattered.The vandalism happened between 2 and 7 a.m. Anyone with information is to call 724-284-8100.Friday — A 45-year-old man’s wallet was stolen from the center console of his unlocked vehicle while he was at work at Ervin Industries on East Butler Road in Summit Township. The wallet contained $80 and the owner’s identification cards.Thursday — A golf bag and clubs were stolen from an unlocked garage in a burglary at a home in the 100 block of Saxonburg Road in Summit Township. The break-in happened between 8 a.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Thursday.Thursday — Penny Sue Dewoehrel, 55, ofwas charged with threatening several people at her home last month in the 500 block of Parker Pike, just south of Sertik Road in Allegheny Township.Police said the Nov. 7 dispute involved Dewoehrel and five others — an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both of Parker, who were moving items out of a room they had rented at the suspect’s home, and three people helping the teenagers with the move.Those helping the former tenants were a 36-year-old woman, a 45-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman, all from Parker.According to a police report, Dewoehrel began to yell at the 36-year-old woman to get off her property and threatened to shoot her. The suspect later swung around a closed gun case as she walked around the front yard yelling at the alleged victims to leave.Dewoehrel is charged with five counts each of terroristic threats and harassment.Wednesday — Police charged Isaac D. Morrison, 27, of Slippery Rock with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 10:35 p.m. Nov. 29 on Route 422 at the Route 528 exit in Franklin Township.Morrison is charged with driving under the influence, two counts of disregarding traffic lanes, making an improper turn, careless driving and a seat belt violation. Police said he was taken to the Butler County Prison for a probation violation, following the stop.Nov. 14 — An unknown burglar made off with electronics from a 21-year-old man’s apartment in the 300 block of Grove City Road in Slippery Rock. Police have no suspects.
State Police, Kittanning5:59 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Shaun A. Henry, 33, of Ford City crashed into a utility pole along Bunker Hill Road in North Buffalo Township. The suspect fled the scene, leaving the maroon, 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan behind. The car is owned by Cochran Automotive in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County.1:35 a.m. Sunday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in East Franklin Township. The crash happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Shane W. Wynkoop, 27, and another vehicle driven by Spencer W. Crawford, 18, both of Kittanning, collided on Lemmon Hollow Road.Crawford, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police said Wynkoop was cited for improperly entering the road.
State Police, Mercer5:35 p.m. Saturday — Scott Pearson, 53, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County.1:28 a.m. Tuesday — Tonia Rowles, 33, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of DUI after her car ran out of gas on Interstate 80 in Findley Township. Police found Rowles in the passenger seat. Troopers smelled a “strong odor” on her breath, according to a police report.“She claimed some guy was driving and walked out with a gas can to get gas,” the report said. When warned about making false statements to police, she admitted to being the driver.12:05 a.m. Nov. 30 — A 20-year-old Springfield Township woman was stalked while at work on Mercer-Butler Pike in Springfield Township.Nov. 30 — An unknown identity thief purchased numerous items from several stores using the debit card information belonging to a 50-year-old man from Worth Township, Mercer County.
