Butler PoliceMonday — Benjamin J. McCormick, 21, of Clay Township was charged in connection with a suspected heroin overdose last week at a store in the 500 block of West Cunningham Street. Police said McCormick passed out about 6:15 p.m. Friday on the floor at Family Video.A Butler Ambulance Service crew and Butler Fire Department paramedics were also called. McCormick was treated with Narcan and revived. He admitted using four stamp bags of heroin, according to court documents. Police said they searched him and found a cooking spoon and syringe.McCormick is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Friday — Police filed a pair of charges against Colton E. Cumberland, 20, of Petrolia stemming from a suspected heroin overdose about 9:20 p.m. Nov. 5 in the 100 block of North Monroe Street.Officers were called for a man passed out in a vehicle that was parked by a Dumpster and found Cumberland in the driver’s seat. On the passenger seat, according to a police report, were three empty stamp bags of heroin.Police said the suspect appeared “very confused” but admitted to using three bags of heroin. He was searched and found with two syringes and a cooking spoon, the report said.Cumberland was taken to the station and placed in a holding cell until sober. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.
Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged two teenagers and a man in connection with a call about 9:45 p.m. Oct. 23 for several underage people drinking in a vehicle at the Sheetz store on Route 68.The driver, Kaylee J. Klenk, 18, of Butler, is accused of giving a bottle of rum to a 17-year-old Butler girl who was in the car. Police said they also found suspected marijuana and a pipe in Klenk’s car.Additionally, Drake M. Kennedy, 22, of Butler, a front seat passenger, was found with an open bottle of whiskey and a plastic cup contained a mixed drink, according to a police report.Klenk is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, furnishing alcohol to a minor and underage possession of alcohol.Police cited Kennedy for possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. The girl, who police did not identify, was cited for underage drinking.
Slippery Rock PoliceTuesday — Alan M. Chambers, 30, of East Butler was arrested after he allegedly robbed an ex-girlfriend of her cell phone last week. Chambers is accused of forcibly taking Joelle Lees’ LG smart phone out of her hands about 9:10 p.m. Saturday at her home on Spruce Drive.Moments before taking the phone, according to court documents, the defendant “demanded to see her Facebook account on the phone.He left and would not return the phone despite several calls from Lees that he bring it back to her, police said. Police later tried unsuccessfully to contact the suspect.Chambers was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday on charges of robbery and theft. He remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail.
State Police, Butler8:40 p.m. Wednesday — A man escaped serious injuries when his motorcycle struck a deer that darted onto Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The Suzuki cruiser-style bike reportedly hit the center of the deer, authorities said.The driver believed to be in his 50s, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with apparent minor injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.A police report was not available this morning. The Connoquenessing and Evans City volunteer fire departments and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.4:30 p.m. Wednesday — A Westmoreland County teenager was caught with suspected marijuana after being stopped for allegedly shoplifting at the Boscov’s store at Clearview Mall in Center Township. Police said the suspect, Autumn R. Sloan, 19, of New Kensington, is charged with retail theft and possession of a small amount of marijuana.8 p.m. Saturday — An unknown burglar stole a jewelry box and jewelry from an 80-year-old woman’s Sullivan Road home in Summit Township. The stolen property is valued at $100.The suspect also caused $200 in damage when he smashed the glass on the home’s doors to get inside. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6 p.m. Nov. 5 — William Isenberg, 47, of Grove City was arrested after he allegedly choked a 69-year-old man at a home on Route 8 in Mercer Township. The alleged victim suffered minor injuries, including black and blue marks, in the alleged assault.Police said Isenberg faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
State Police, Franklin5 a.m. Sunday — Dean A. Kinney, 44, of Parker was hurt when he lost control of his car and crashed into a traffic sign and two small pine trees along Big Bend Road just north of Emlenton Clintonville Road in Scrubgrass Township.Kinney, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said he was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The burglar got into the house after prying open the front windowA police report did not indicate if police have any suspects in the burglary that happened between 9 a.m. and 6:43 p.m.
State Police, Mercer6:30 a.m. Wednesday — A 20-year-old woman was hurt when she lost control of her car and struck a tree along Route 965, about one-half mile west of Route 173 in Worth Township, Mercer County. Shelbi S. Westlake of Jackson Center, the driver, was partially ejected from the vehicle.Sandy Lake and Jackson Center volunteer firefighters helped rescue Westlake, who was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt and faces unspecified traffic violations.
State Police, New CastleToday — Police issued five traffic tickets to a New Castle man in connection with a one-car wreck last month in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Spencer L. McCosby, 22, told troopers that he lost control of his car on Cooper Road about 3:19 a.m. Oct. 24 when he swerved to avoid a deer, a police report said.The car slid into a drainage ditch and embankment before rolling over and ending up on its roof.McCosby was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, abandoning a vehicle on the road, driving with worn tires and driving a vehicle without inspection.2:50 p.m. Tuesday — Linda R. Dean, 68, of Ellwood City and Linda D. Billings, 52, of Grove City suffered minor injuries when cars they were driving collided at Route 388 and Princeton Road in Shenango Township.Dean was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Billings was treated at the scene. Both women were wearing seat belts. Slippery Rock Township volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.Police cited Dean for a stop sign violation.
