9:21 a.m. Friday — A three-time convicted drug felon was arrested on charges stemming from the theft of a cell phone last month in Butler.

Police said the suspect, Tijuan M. Phillips, 25, no known address, on Oct. 31 took the Apple iPhone 5, valued at $250, after the owner had momentarily placed it on the counter in the Dunkin’ Donuts on North Main Street.

But by the time the owner noticed the phone gone, the suspect, too, was gone.

Store surveillance video helped police identify Phillips, who was nabbed six days later behind Kelly Automotive Park at Pullman Park Place.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on a charge of theft, and remanded him to Butler County Prison $10,000 bail.

Court records, meanwhile, showed that Phillips was convicted in September of two counts of felony drug possession in Allegheny County. He was convicted of a similar charge last year in Butler County.

5:30 p.m. Sunday — Dewayne A. McFadden, 26, of Center Township was arrested for drunken driving after a one-vehicle rollover wreck in Center Township.

Police said McFadden lost control of his pickup truck on Lions Road and struck a utility pole before rolling onto its roof. The pole was damaged and live wires were laying on the road when police got there.

The suspect smelled of alcohol and admitted he had been drinking at a bar in Butler Township. He said he had been watching the Steelers game and was driving home.

When a trooper asked how much he had to drink, according to court documents, he replied, “a lot.” A breath test would soon confirm that admission.

The test showed McFadden’s blood-alcohol level was 0.192 percent, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned McFadden, who is already on probation for a 2014 drunken driving conviction, on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.

He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.
