Butler Police8:31 p.m. Wednesday — Adam Lee McCardle, 29, of Hermitage, Mercer County, was arrested on a bench warrant after he was found lying on the grass and gravel near the Monroe Hotel on East Jefferson Street. Police suspect he was drunk on alcohol or drugs, or both.A search turned up a syringe in one of McCardle’s pockets, according to court documents. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant. Police said he faces additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.9:36 p.m. Tuesday — Domenick M.C. Gates, 21, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Andi McNanny, during a domestic dispute at their apartment in the 500 block of West Cunningham Street. Gates is accused of laying his hands on McNanny and holding her down.He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.12:01 p.m. Tuesday — Laura L. Best, 30, of Butler and Sabrina D. Guthrie of Lyndora face felony and other charges after they were spotted allegedly shoplifting about $66 in merchandise at the Pullman Square Kmart store.A store employee stopped Best with the merchandise but Guthrie got away, court documents said. She was later arrested.Police noted that Kmart officials had previously advised both women that they were not allowed at the store due to prior shoplifting incidents. Guthrie has two prior convictions and Best one prior conviction for shoplifting.Guthrie was arraigned on felony charges of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, and a misdemeanor charge of defiant trespass. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Police charged Best by summons with conspiracy to commit retail theft, a felony, and retail theft and defiant trespass, both misdemeanors.8:18 a.m. Tuesday — James A. Freed, 57, no known address, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his ex-fiance, Dianne Watt, during a domestic dispute at her home on Rattigan Street.Watt told police that Freed showed up at her home and tried to push his way inside, according to court documents. He allegedly slapped the left side of her face before she managed to shut and lock the door.Freed left before officers got there, but was arrested about 45 minutes later, police said. He is charged with simple assault and is in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
Butler Twp. Police11:30 a.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on the Lyndora on-ramp at Route 422 west. The crash happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Ronald Stadelmaier, 59, of New York rear-ended a car driven by Carol Cricks, 69, of Lyndora.One of Cricks’ passenger, who police did not identify, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.5:45 p.m. Tuesday — Police recovered a plastic bag full of clothing on Route 68. The owner can claim the clothes at the police station at 290 S. Duffy Road.
State Police, Butler2:35 a.m. Saturday — Broderick U. Zamora, 28, of Beaumont, Texas, was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped for speeding at New Castle Road and Eighth Avenue in Butler.Zamora smelled of alcohol and he admitted to drinking that day, court documents said. A breath test subsequently found his blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent, more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with speeding, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
State Police, Kittanning6:15 p.m. Thursday — Robert Aul, 56, of Templeton was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on Route 28/66 at the Rayburn/Boggs Township line. Aul was taken to an unspecified hospital with a head injury.
State Police, New Castle10:50 a.m. Oct. 29 — One person was hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Jamie D. Malinowski, 38, of Valencia collided with another SUV at Route 956 and Older Mercer Road in Wilmington Township. The other driver, Becky L. Galiano, 53, of New Castle, suffered minor injuries.Police said both women were searing seat belts and no charges were filed.
