Butler PoliceMonday — Police filed a misdemeanor drug charge against 19-year-old Katelyn J. Messer stemming from a suspected heroin overdose last week at her apartment in the 500 block of West Cunningham Street.Officers and paramedics were called shortly before 10:30 a.m. Oct. 27 and found Messer unconscious in the bathroom. She was eventually revived with the heroin antidote Narcan and admitted using heroin, according to court documents.Police searched the bathroom and found five empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, two syringes, three cooking spoons and a crack pipe.Messer is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.6:50 p.m. Friday — Richard J. Williams Jr., 37, of Oakland Township was caught with suspected drugs and other contraband after he was arrested on a bench warrant in the area of Snyder Avenue and West Brady Street.Officers found Williams after police were notified of a man using drugs. A search following his arrest turned up seven stamp bags and five empty bags of suspected heroin, three used syringes and a Suboxone strip.Williams is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.1:50 p.m. Friday — Jolena E. Harbison, 37, of Parker was nabbed with suspected heroin, prescription pills and other drugs and contraband after officers found her intoxicated in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street.A search of the Harbison's purse, according to court documents, yielded 17 stamp bags of suspected heroin, 17 anti-anxiety clorazepam pills, Suboxone strips and a cooking spoon.Harbison is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also cited her for public drunkenness.3:53 p.m. Oct. 26 — Tasha N. Saeler, 24, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting several packages of curtains at the Pullman Square Kmart store. Saeler, who has at least two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.
Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Zachery Birckbichler, 34, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop about 2:25 a.m. Oct. 11 on Greenwood Drive. In addition to driving under the influence, Birckbichler faces several traffic violations.Tuesday — Zachary D. Hinchberger, 24, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a suspected hit-and-run crash Oct. 17 at the Sheetz parking lot on Route 8.Police said recently received toxicology reports showed Hinchberger's blood-alcohol level was four times the state's 0.08 percent legal limit. Additionally, the reports revealed he had marijuana in his system.He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, hit-and-run and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Tuesday — Police charged Eric Jackson, 25, and Marlon Juana, 23, both of Slippery Rock, with allegedly shoplifting $57 in merchandise from Walmart at Butler Commons on Sept. 1 Both suspects are charged with retail theft.2:48 p.m. Monday — Barry J. Murray, 20, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $60 in merchandise from the Kohl's store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. He is charged with retail theft.
Grove City Police10 p.m. Monday — An alarm activation at Cooper Industrial Commons on Lincoln Avenue ended with four people, including three youths, in trouble with the law.Police officers answering the alarm found the youths and Kent Oppenheimer, 20, of Grove City near the commons' building. The juveniles and Oppenheimer are accused of entering the building by scaling a fence.The suspects, who did not have permission to be on the property, all face charges of defiant trespass.Meanwhile, police are conducting a separate vandalism investigation at the Cooper Industrial facility. A building there between Friday and Sunday had its window panels pulled off. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Sunday — A thief overnight stole an electrical timer from the front porch of a home on Barmore Avenue. The timer is valued at $45.Sunday — Julian McFadden, 18, of Grove City was caught driving a vehicle in the 300 block of North Broad Street without the owner's permission. Police said McFadden is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license.Oct. 29 — An orange, Coach wallet and a black cheetah print book bag containing books were stolen from a vehicle in the area of Monroe Street. The theft happened between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m.
Butler County DetectivesOct. 28 — Justin D. Boes, 21, of Center Township was caught trying to cheat on a urine test during a drug screen procedure at the Butler County Adult Probation Office in Butler.A probation officer, according to court documents, found Boes with a “Urinator” — an electronic device that keeps fake urine warm using a pair of 9-volt batteries.Boes, who is already on house arrest, is charged with attempting to furnish drug-free urine, a misdemeanor.
State Police, ButlerTuesday — Two 9 mm pistols — a Glock 26 and Glock 43 — were among the items stolen from a vehicle belonging to a 27-year-old Slippery Rock Township woman. Along with the handguns, taken was a yellow Coach bag and a silver Apple iPod.The theft occurred between 10 a.m. Sunday and noon Tuesday. The vehicle owner, who lives in the 300 block of Ralston Road, does not know where the vehicle was when the items were taken.Police have no suspects in the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Tuesday — An identity thief used a 37-year-old Center Township woman's credit card number to make unspecified purchases of $27 in Pittsburgh. The cases of access device fraud happened between 1:22 p.m. Monday and 9:37 a.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.5:47 p.m. Oct. 29 — Michael J. Reilly, 24, of New Castle was caught with three open bags of suspected heroin at the Butler County Prison after he was arrested and jailed on a bench warrant. Police initially pulled over Reilly on West New Castle Street in Butler for having an expired inspection sticker on the vehicle.A subsequent search of his driving record found his license was suspended. Additionally, police learned Reilly was wanted on multiple bench warrants.Troopers searched Reilly and found a used hypodermic needle in one of his pockets. He denied having any other drugs or contraband.But after being taken to the county prison, another search turned up the bags of suspected heroin, documents said. He was arraigned on a felony charge of possession of drug contraband by an inmate. He remains in the prison on $15,000 bail.
State Police, Franklin6:36 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Alesha M. Webb, 29, of Harrisville struck a deer on Route 208 just west of Hanna Road in Clinton Township, Venango County.
State Police, Kittanning3:12 p.m. Tuesday — Three teenagers were hurt in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction collision that started when a pickup truck driven by Samantha A. Conrad, 25, of Freeport rear-ended a car on Route 28 north off-ramp in Harrison Township, Allegheny County.The collision forced the car, driven by Emily Kummer, 19, of Leechburg, into the back of a car driven by Jennifer A. Blanck, 33, of Vandergrift. Blanck's car, in turn, rear-ended another car, driven by Richard J. Rickerd, 54, of Saxonburg.Kummer and her two passengers — a 17-year-old Leechburg boy and a 16-year-old Pittsburgh boy — were injured. Kummer was treated at the scene. Both boys were taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.None of the teenagers was wearing a seat belt.2:25 p.m. Tuesday — Alexander L. Smith, 20, of Templeton was caught allegedly shoplifting several items at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart. Police said Smith is charged with retail theft.Monday — A burglar made off with an undisclosed amount of currency from the Sunoco store on Route 422 in Worthington. The unknown suspect broke into the closed business between 1 and 2 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.Friday — A thief stole the license plate off a Worthington woman's vehicle at the Slate Lick Park and Ride in South Buffalo Township. The plate was taken between Oct. 28 and Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.9 p.m. Oct. 29 — A car driven by David J. Arocho, 29, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, struck a deer on Route 128 about one-quarter mile north of Edward Road in South Buffalo Township. He wasn't hurt, but his car had to be towed.3:40 p.m. Oct. 28 — A Butler County teenager was hurt in a chain-reaction wreck involving six vehicles. Alexis K. Smicker, 18, of Mars, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with minor injuries.The crash happened when a Peterbilt truck driven by Ronald E. Faidley, 44, of Somerset, Pa., rear-ended a car driven by Nicholas A. Smicker, 21, of Mars, which was stopped at a red light.The first collision, in turn, set off a series of other rear-end collisions with the other vehicles, which also were stopped at the traffic light.The other drivers were Andrew S. Benjamin, 25, of Horseheads, N.Y.; Alexander M. Alberter, 22, of Johnstown, Cambria County; Anthony C. Wolbert Jr., 37, of Seneca, Venango County; and Casey R. Pennigton, 35, of Kittanning.Police cited Faidley for driving too fast for conditions.
State Police, MercerWednesday — Police reported they are investigating a case of identity theft last month that targeted a Pine Township man. The unknown suspect allegedly bought an $849 smartphone using the victim's Verizon cell phone account in Missouri.
