Butler PoliceMonday — Ryan M. Napier, 38, was arrested on charges he assaulted his wife during a domestic dispute last week at their apartment on the 400 block of South Chestnut Street.Police said Napier about 10:44 p.m. Oct. 7 got angry with Danielle Napier, grabbing her and slamming her into a window, which broke. He also allegedly threw her on the ground. She suffered a cut on her right forearm and scratches on her right leg, according to court documents.Napier was gone by the time police were called. He was arrested Monday and arraigned on a charge of simple assault. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.12:32 a.m. Thursday — Erika L. Celestin, 33, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly attacked Charles Portis during a domestic dispute at his apartment on the 400 block of North Main Street.Celestin is accused of assaulting Portis and at one point going after him with a “novelty knife that was hanging on a wall,” a police affidavit said. He suffered minor injuries including scratches and bruises on both arms.Celestin was arraigned on a charge of simple assault. She was placed in Butler County Prison but released Friday after posting $2,500 bail.11:38 a.m. Oct. 6 — James A. Cogley, 37, of Butler got a rude awakening after police found him dozing in a minivan at a store parking lot on the 300 block of East Jefferson Street. Before long, officers allegedly turned up suspected heroin and other drug contraband while searching Cogley and the van.Police said that after they woke up the sleepy suspect and got him out of the van, they noticed a bundle of stamp bags of suspected heroin and a syringe on the driver’s side floor, according to court documents.Officers also found a wallet containing Cogley’s identification, which contradicted the name he initially provided to police.The defendant’s pat-down search yielded a cigarette pack that contained empty bags of suspected heroin, documents said. Another cigarette pack next to the driver’s seat contained more empty bags as well as four full bags of suspected heroin.Cogley is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, false identification to police, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.1 a.m. Oct. 6 — Zachary A. Rock, 24, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Beckert Avenue. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol was 0.179 percent, court documents said, more than double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to DUI, police charged Rock with driving on the wrong side of the road.

Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged Jeffery M. Wilk, 36, and Bradley M. Zurzolo, 23, in connection with a fight last month at a local bar.The altercation happened Sept. 19 when Wilk and Zurzolo were asked to leave the Looney Toones Tavern on New Castle Road. The suspects left but returned about 10 minutes later, wielding a baseball bat and starting a fight with other bar patrons.A police report noted that no one was seriously injured.Wilk and Zurzolo are both charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Police also charged Wilk with driving under the influence.3:51 a.m. Monday — Nathanual R. Wong, 34, was arrested after assaulting his girlfriend, 24-year-old Chelsea M. Hainer of Lyndora, at their home on Bessemer Avenue in LyndoraPolice said Wong grabbed Hainer by the face after she pushed him. She suffered unspecified injuries. Wong was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.Hainer was cited for harassment.2:06 a.m. Monday — Darwin S. Paschal, 19, of Butler was found with suspected marijuana and a bottle of vodka in a car at a parking lot on Main Street in Lyndora.Police said a search of the car turned up five smoked marijuana cigarettes. Paschal is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and underage possession of alcohol.6:54 p.m. Saturday — David Gerard, 55, of Butler got into a suspected drunken dispute with employees and customers at Friedman’s supermarket at Greater Butler Mart on Route 8 south. Police charged Gerard with disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.3:24 p.m. Saturday — Gary E. Hartzell, 48, of West Sunbury was caught allegedly shoplifting $162 in merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. He is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.Saturday — Police charged John P. Griffin, 29, of Saxonburg with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop at 2:12 a.m. Sept. 22 on Route 8 south where they also allegedly found him with marijuana and other drug contraband.Griffin is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He also got a traffic ticket for having an obscured license plate.Charging documents noted this is Griffin’s third DUI offense.10:34 p.m. Friday — Michael W. Daugherty, 48, is accused of getting into an altercation with several other residents at his home on the 100 block of Bessemer Avenue in Lyndora. He is charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.9:15 p.m. Friday — A car crashed into the township’s salt bin at South Duffy and Butler roads after Eric B. Miner, 44, of Connoquenessing lost control of the vehicle and hit a small embankment and tree. Police cited Miner for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.Friday — Officers suspect James E. Burkett, 54, of Butler was high on drugs when they found him holding onto a shelf, apparently to support himself, at the Butler Commons’ Dollar General store. Burkett was arrested and cited for public drunkenness.5:53 p.m. Friday — Dennis R. John, 40, of Butler allegedly got into a scuffle that left a 17-year-old boy injured at Old Plank Estates apartment complex. Police said John had no reason for being at the apartment complex when he got into the altercation. He is charged with trespass and harassment.The boy, who police did not identify, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.5:26 p.m. Friday — Mark J. Leitsch, 33, of Butler is accused of swiping $21 in merchandise from the Dollar General store at Butler Commons, and returning it for a cash refund. Police said Leitsch is charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

State Police, ButlerTuesday — Police charged an Ohio woman in connection with a suspected weekend drinking binge in Slippery Rock Township.Troopers were notified about 9:45 p.m. Saturday after witnesses reported seeing Sara A. Patterson, 20, of Burton, lying on Kiester Road. Authorities determined she had too much to drink, according to a police report.Patterson was cited for public drunkenness.

State Police, KittanningOct. 5 — Police filed a list of charges against Paul W. Flood, 46, of Indiana, Pa., in connection with a ruckus last month at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township.Flood is accused of threatening hospital staff, including a 29-year-old nurse from Butler, while being discharged about 4:15 p.m. Sept. 20. He allegedly threw a water bottle against the wall before leaving and driving away.Flood is charged with two counts each of terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct, and three counts of harassment.
