Sunday — Betty May Claypool is accused of stealing $80 from her boyfriend’s pants pocket as he slept at their apartment on the 300 block of Mercer Street. Earl Dally Jr. told police that when he awoke, Claypool was gone.
After finding his money gone, he called Claypool by telephone. According to court documents, she admitted taking the money. Police charged her with misdemeanor theft.
3:02 a.m. July 26 — Mose A. Lane, 54, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving on Center Avenue. Police said they noticed a “strong odor” of alcohol coming from him and he appeared intoxicated.
Lane was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.154 percent, nearly twice the state’s legal limit.
He is charged with driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and a seat belt violation.

Wednesday — Rachel C. Baylock, 37, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a hit-and-run crash about 10:15 a.m. June 16 on Route 68 near the East Jefferson Street bridge. Police said Baylock is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and several other traffic violations.

10:30 p.m. Wednesday — Jeffery Lee Domhoff, 49, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a trooper responding to a domestic disturbance at his home on Semiconon Lane in Connoquenessing Township.
Police said an argument between Domhoff and his wife sent troopers to the home. The defendant is accused of attempting twice to force his way through Trooper Cody Spangler, who suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Domhoff was placed in Butler County Prison to await arraignment this morning on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
5:01 p.m. Wednesday — A fire extinguisher was found on Route 422 near the Pilot truck store in Muddy Creek Township. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-284-8100 and asking to speak to the evidence custodian.
July 29 — Luke O. Baranchak, 18, of Butler was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, multiple counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and various traffic violations following a traffic stop at 1:20 a.m. July 4 on Route 356 in Butler Township.
Police said Baranchak switched lanes without signaling and was driving with broken taillights. During the stop, police said Baranchak had dilated eyes and slow speech. He eventually admitted he had smoked marijuana that night.
Police obtained a search warrant to check the vehicle and found 6.7 grams of marijuana and two marijuana pipes.

Monday — An unknown thief made off with a 62-year-old man’s continuous positive airway pressure machine that was in his car parked at Team Hardinger Transportation in Barkeyville. The CPAP machine, a breathing device prescribed to people with sleep apnea, was taken between 12:30 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday.

10:30 a.m. Tuesday — Two Lawrence County men were arrested after allegedly working a distraction theft at Landscape Supply Express on Route 19 in Springfield Township.
The suspects — Bernard Lee Wilt, 32, of New Castle and Mark J. McConahy, 35, of Edinburg — went into the store and asked a worker to show them a product stored outside. The employee went outside with Wilt while McConahy stayed in the store.
According to a police report, McConahy stole money from the cash register. He and Wilt fled the store but were subsequently found and arrested.
Both men were arraigned on charges of theft and conspiracy to commit theft. Wilt also is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The defendants were placed in Mercer County Jail on $5,000 bail each following arraignment.
Sunday — An unidentified vehicle struck a car parked in front of the County Market grocery store at Pine Grove Square Shopping Center. The hit-and-run crash happened between 4:20 and 4:45 p.m.

4:39 a.m. Wednesday — Bethany M. Bathurst, 23, of Ellwood City swerved her car to avoid a deer on the road and struck a guardrail on Route 488 just east of Studebaker Road in Perry Township, Lawrence County.
