9:40 p.m. Wednesday — Devin Lee Parker, 26, of Butler was caught with suspected drug contraband in a car on North Elm Street.Police found Parker after they got a report of two people allegedly shooting up heroin in a parked vehicle, according to court documents. Officers noticed suspected drug-related items in the vehicle and subsequently searched Parker.The search turned up two syringes, empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a crack cocaine pipe. Police charged Parker with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.6:13 p.m. Wednesday — Police charged Krystal K. Krauchak, 27, of Penn Township with having a syringe loaded with suspected heroin after they arrested her on a bench warrant at a home on First Street.Butler Township police initially notified city officers about 5:40 p.m. that they were looking for Krauchak after she fled Butler Memorial Hospital, where she was in their custody, according to court documents.City police, who also learned she was wanted on the warrant, spotted the suspect running on Carbon Street and gave chase. The chase continued onto Cecilia Street, where Krauchak cut between houses in her getaway bid.Officers moments later nabbed her as she ran across First Street. Police charged her for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly having the syringe.She was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant that was issued June 24 after she failed to appear for a court hearing in an unrelated drug paraphernalia possession and shoplifting case that Butler police filed in February.

Monday — Julie L. Lascuola, 32, of Butler was charged with a felony count of retail theft stemming from a March 16 shoplifting-related incident at the Butler Commons' Walmart.Police said Lascuola stole a $20 shoe insert and left the store, getting into a vehicle driven by her alleged accomplice, Justin O. Newman, 27, of Slippery Rock.Several minutes later, Newman allegedly entered the store and tried to return the merchandise for a refund. The attempt failed but that apparently didn't deter Newman, according to a police report. He tried again to return the shoe insert several hours later but again was denied.Lascuola, who has four prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with felony retail theft and misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft by deception. Newman is charged with conspiracy to commit theft by deception, attempted theft by deception, receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended license.Monday — Police filed several drug-related charges against Anthony S. Dorenkamp, 24, of Butler in connection with a suspected heroin overdose last week.Officers about 9:50 p.m. July 6 found Dorenkamp unconscious inside a vehicle at the Tanglewood Center parking lot. He was searched and found with one stamp bag and three empty bags of suspected heroin and two unspecified prescription pills, according to a police report.Dorenkamp was revived and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.He is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possess ion of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.3:38 p.m. Saturday — David V. Matson, 38, and Christine M. Filges, 39, both of Chicora, were caught on property on Schaffner Road that is posted “No trespass.” Police cited Matson and Filges for trespass.

Friday — David K. Arnold, 36, of Butler was arraigned on a new criminal charge after he failed to begin serving his prison sentence for an earlier drunken driving conviction.Arnold on July 2 was sentenced in Butler County court to a term of 72 hours to 6 months in Butler County Prison for his conviction on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs last fall.The sentence was subsequently deferred until 11 p.m. July 6 when the defendant was to appear at Butler County Prison to start his stint behind bars. Arnold got there on time but was told he had to wait for the processing officer to review his paperwork.Arnold, however, apparently grew impatient.“Mr. Arnold departed from the front of the prison shortly after and has not returned to fulfill his sentence,” according to an affidavit county detectives filed Thursday after the defendant walked out and kept walking.Butler County Judge Tim McCune on Thursday also issued a bench warrant for his arrest in connection with the DUI case.He was arrested Friday and arraigned on a new charge of defaulting in a required appearance, a misdemeanor. Afterward, he was placed in prison on $25,000 bail stemming from the new charge.
