Butler Police5:43 p.m. Tuesday — Jonathan P. Gall, 29, of Middlesex Township faces a misdemeanor drug charge after suffering an apparent heroin overdose at Memorial Park.An anonymous caller notified authorities of a man slumped in a vehicle at the park. Police found the man, later identified as Gall, unresponsive with labored breathing.Butler firefighters arrived and helped get Gall out of the car. A Butler Ambulance Service crew used the drug Narcan to revive him. He refused further medical treatment.Gall admitted using heroin, according to a police report, but he could not recall how much he took. He was taken to the police station and placed in a holding cell until he was sober.Police said Gall is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Monday — Police charged Matthew B. Carter, 48, of Butler with stealing $1,711 from the Rent-A-Center store at Pullman Square while he worked there as a manager.According to court documents, Carter created several false rental accounts for existing store merchandise by using money in 10 existing inactive customer accounts that had an excess of cash or credit attached to them, and kept the funds for himself.Carter is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft.11:14 p.m. Saturday — Linda J. Pappas, 55, of Butler Township was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving at West Cunningham and South Jackson streets. Police said they stopped her for driving without her headlights on while traveling the wrong way on West Cunningham Street.Pappas appeared to be intoxicated and officers noted a “strong odor” of alcohol on her breath. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the station for a breath test, but the machine was unable to provide officers with a reading.Police said Pappas subsequently refused to submit to a blood test at Butler Memorial Hospital.In addition to driving under the influence, she is charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way road and driving without her headlights on after dark.8:51 p.m. Friday — June M. Ruff, 52, of Butler was a repeated unwelcome guest when she allegedly entered a neighbor’s home on Rattigan Street without permission.Police were called after the woman who lives there reported that Ruff, three times, walked into her house uninvited. The resident said each time she told Ruff to leave and not to return.The occupant also told police she and Ruff have been involved in a property dispute.Officers went to Ruff’s home, and she denied entering the neighbor’s house.Police charged Ruff with a misdemeanor count of trespass.
Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged Gina M. Parenti, 29, of Butler with two counts of retail theft stemming from a pair of separate shoplifting incidents last month at the Walgreens store on New Castle Road.Parenti allegedly stole $7 worth of merchandise on June 30. A day earlier, according to a police report, she took items valued at $24.
Grove City PoliceTuesday — A 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were identified as the unlikely suspects behind a case of vandalism last week at the Penn Grove Hotel on East Pine Street. Police said the building housing the hotel on July 1 sustained damage including windows broken by rocks and beer bottles.According to a police report, the two youths were not charged in the case due to their ages. Instead, restitution for the unspecified amount of damage will be handled in civil court.Tuesday — Police charged Sarah Ann Black, 30, of Stoneboro with repeatedly communicating with two other people on June 26 after she was requested not to do so. Black is charged with harassment by communication.
State Police, Kittanning11:31 a.m. Tuesday — A Freeport man was caught carrying a fake driver’s license that included a bogus name and birth date after police stopped him on Route 68 in Manor Township. The suspect, 20-year-old Michael D. Bercik, is charged with possession of false identification.10:48 a.m. Tuesday — A call for a domestic dispute between a parent and child in the 100 block of Fourth Street in Freeport ended in trouble for a 16-year-old Allegheny County boy. Police said they found drug contraband on the Natrona Heights youth, who they did not identify.Police said they cited the boy for possession of drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Mercer1 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Jane M. Houston, 72, of Mercer struck the side of a truck on Route 258 in Springfield Township. Houston was cited for disregarding traffic lanes. Steven C. Tyler, 46, of West Mifflin, Allegheny County was the other driver.
