12:40 a.m. Saturday — Trevor A. Hays, 23, of Chicora was arrested for drunken driving after he crashed into two parked vehicles on the side of the road in the 700 block of West Penn Street.Officers followed a fluid trail from the crash to the Belmont II bar at the Bon Aire Plaza on Route 8 in Butler Township.The trail of fluid led to a 2006 BMW sedan, which appeared to have damage “consistent with the crash on West Penn Street,” documents said.Officers found Hays inside the bar. He appeared intoxicated. He admitted to driving the BMW and acknowledged he had been drinking since 3 p.m., police said.Hays was taken to the state police barracks in Butler Township for a breath test. The test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.135 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated for drivers under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, police charged Hays with hit-and-run.
9:57 p.m. Monday — Carmen W. Desmond, 52, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his 38-year-old wife during a domestic dispute at their home on Acre Avenue. Desmond was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is free on $2,000 bail.8:44 a.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Robert J. Kaiser, 54, of Butler struck another vehicle, which was stopped at a stop sign, while making a left turn at Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Police cited Kaiser for careless driving. Joseph Bagwell, 20, of Volant, Lawrence County, was the other driver.6:57 a.m. Monday — A Venango County trucker was hurt when his tractor-trailer hauling a load of combustible ash overturned while exiting the Route 422 west ramp onto Route 356.Butler Township Fire District 3 volunteer firefighters had to rescue Stephen C. Sumner, 54, of Oil City from his rig. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.The crash closed the ramp for a short time.Police cited Sumner for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and causing an accident involving an overturned vehicle.
Tuesday — Anthony E. Uniejewski, 23, of Slippery Rock was arrested on charges he inappropriately touched a 15-year-old girl last year when they both worked at the Kozy Rest Kampground in Marion Township.District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Uniejewski on a felony charge of corruption of a minor and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault. The suspect is free on $30,000 unsecured bail.Uniejewski during a May 22 interview at the police barracks in Butler Township told investigators he kissed and groped the girl while at work between April and October 2014, according to documents. The defendant's attorney accompanied him at the interview.Police on June 2 spoke to the girl, who also admitted that she and the defendant last summer and fall communicated regularly by text message and social media.“(She) stated these messages were often sexual in nature,” a police affidavit said.9:03 p.m. Monday — Maria M. McCabe, 51, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 west near Lensey Lane in Connoquenessing Township.Monday — An unknown thief removed Florida license plate DRHN79 from a 2011 BMW station wagon at a home on Pheasant Run Drive in Worth Township.Monday — Someone broke into a vehicle in Slippery Rock Township and stole several items that were in the center console. Among the property taken from the vehicle at an apartment in the 100 block of Harmony Road was $30 and a laser pen. The theft happened between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday.
4:04 p.m. Monday — M.J. Opalka, 85, of Ford City was one of four people, including two children, hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Bethel Township. The crash happened when Joshua T. Woods, 28, of Vandergrift lost control of his car on Route 66 and struck the passenger side of Opalka's sport utility vehicle.Opalka, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with moderate injuries. Woods and his two passengers, boys ages 2 and 11, were also taken to ACMH with minor injuries.Woods and the older boy were both wearing seat belts and the 2-year-old was in a child safety seat. Police cited Woods for driving at an unsafe speed and disregarding traffic lanes.
