Butler Police
7:21 p.m. Saturday — Carrie R. Nelson, 33, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant after she was found allegedly under the influence of drugs at the Rite Aid on South Main Street.
A store employee called police to report an intoxicated woman at the store. Police found her at the checkout. She appeared impaired.
A search of her purse turned up three used syringes, 24 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, a marijuana pipe and other drug contraband.
Additionally, police found an opened package of Suboxine, four pills each of gabapentin and mirtazapine, 28 pills of hydroxyzine, 38 pills of prazosin and 70 pills of Budeprion.
She faces charges of illegal possession of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well as public drunkenness.
Nelson was taken to the Butler County Prison for the warrant that was issued May 13 after she failed to appear for a hearing in Butler County Court. In that case filed by city police, she is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Thursday — Police filed charges against three Butler County residents after they failed to return rental equipment to a city business. One of the suspects, Brian R. Hoover, 36, of Penn Township, faces felony charges in two separate cases.
Hoover and the other suspects — Michael Raible, 55, of Penn Township and Dawn M. Nowicki, 42, of Jefferson Township — are accused of renting property from KENMAC Rental & Sales on South Main Street last year and not returning the items.
According to court documents, Hoover signed rental agreements in August and September for scaffolding. The business on April 27 sent Hoover a certified letter advising him to return the property in 10 days. The items were not retuned.
Police said he owes a combined $6,488 in restitution. Hoover is charged with two felony counts of theft of leased property.
Raible in December also leased scaffolding that he did not return. The company’s certified letter sent to him April 16 was returned “unclaimed,” documents said. KENMAC is seeking $3,068 in restitution.

Nowicki is accused of not returning a pressure washer that she rented in July. Police said the business in September sent her a certified letter that was returned “unclaimed.” Restitution in the case is $348.
Police charged Nowicki with a misdemeanor count of theft of leased property.
State Police, Butler
1:23 p.m. Saturday — One person was hurt in a two vehicle wreck in northern Butler County. The crash happened when vehicles driven by Austin A. Huff, 21, of Boyers and Dakota J. Snyder, 18, of Hilliards collided on Route 38 in Venango Township.
Nikki L. Christy, 19, of Slippery Rock, a passenger in Huff’s vehicle, suffered a minor injury. Police cited Huff for improperly entering or crossing a road.
11:35 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Sen Wang, 23, of Pittsburgh crashed after running over a tire tread on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.
Saturday — A Pittsburgh woman’s golf cart was stolen from her property at the Moraine Camplands on Staff Road in Brady Township. The golf cart was returned several hours later with its ignition damaged.
In a separate case during the same time at the same campground, the ignition of an Allegheny County man’s all-terrain vehicle was damaged. Police are investigating both incidents.
9:40 p.m. Friday — Richard Stair, 25, of Evans City is suspected of driving drunk when he crashed his motorcycle on Upper Harmony Road in Connoquenessing Township. Stair, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.
Police said driving under the influence charges are pending toxicology reports. Investigators also noted that Stair was not wearing mandatory eye protection and he did not have a license to drive a motorcycle.
Connoquenessing and Harmony volunteer fire departments and Harmony Ambulance assisted police at the scene.
5:05 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Catherine M. Opalko, 42, of Pittsburgh struck a guide rail along Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township after she lost control due to rainy conditions. Police cited Opalko for driving at an unsafe speed.
State Police, Kittanning
2:15 p.m. Saturday — An unknown object struck and damaged a car driven by John M. Crawford, 45, of Concord, N.C., on Route 28 north of the Glade Run overpass in North Buffalo Township.
Saturday — Police reported they cited Flir Government Systems in South Buffalo Township for having a false alarm. The citation was issued after the business had its fourth false alarm during a 12-month period, a police report said.
3:05 p.m. May 31 — Wade A. McIntyre, 35, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old woman during at their home on Bell Town Road in Pine Township, Armstrong County. The woman’s 20-month-old girl was also injured during the altercation.
McIntyre was arraigned on two counts each of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail. Police also cited him for driving with a suspended license.
State Police, Mercer
12:34 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Travis R. Pratt, 27, of Volant sideswiped a van on Route 19 just north of Millburn Road in Springfield Township. Pratt fled the scene but was later found at his home.
Police cited Pratt for driving with a suspended license and disregarding traffic lanes.
Lois S. Rebel, 80, of Mercer was the other driver.
State Police, New Castle
2:29 p.m. Friday — Six people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The wreck happened on Route 65 just south of Hogue Road where a car driven by Krystal M. Chambers, 29, of Ellwood City crossed into opposing traffic and hit another car.
The second car, driven by Jerrilyn A. DiSalvo, 51, of New Castle, hit a guardrail following the collision before hitting another driven by Susan R. Harris, 43, of New Castle.
All three drivers suffered minor to moderate injuries. Two children, ages 4 and 7, in Chambers’ car, and Caitlin Gardner, 21, of New Castle, a passenger in DiSalvo’s car, also suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Police said Chambers was not wearing a seat belt and her passengers were not secured in safety seats. They were all taken to Ellwood City Hospital. DiSalvo and Harris were taken to Jameson Hospital.
All three cars had severe damage. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department in Lawrence County assisted at the scene. The wreck closed both lanes on Route 65 for more than an hour.
A police report said Chambers is suspected of driving under the influence of medication.
Police said she also faces tickets for driving with a suspended license, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, driving with faulty tires and not securing children in safety seats.
