Butler fugitive arrested in W.Va.
WESTOVER, W.Va. — Three Butler County residents — one a fugitive — were arrested on felony drug charges at an apartment complex in this northern West Virginia city.
Loud music and the strong odor of burning marijuana coming from an apartment Wednesday caught the attention of officers and led to the arrests, police said.
Charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance were Sarah Archer, 26, and Qureem Overton, 32, both of Butler; and Katelin Conner, 18, of Lyndora.
Archer is also charged with being a fugitive from Butler County.
Officers initially were called to the apartment building, less than one mile south of Morgantown, for a noise complaint, said police Sgt. John Morgan.
When Overton opened the door, the officers immediately caught wind of the suspected marijuana coming from the apartment, and eventually obtained a search warrant.
The search turned up two individually wrapped plastic baggies of marijuana, packaging materials for marijuana and numerous empty stamp bags of heroin.
Also seized during the search were several cell phones and more than $4,500 in currency, Morgan said.
Archer, Overton and Conner were placed in the North Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bail each. Overton and Conner were released Thursday after posting bail, a jail spokeswoman said.
Archer, who remains jailed, has been wanted by authorities in Butler County since a bench warrant was issued here.
Butler County Judge William Shaffer issued the warrant Jan. 21 after Archer failed to appear at her formal arraignment on charges that she was driving under the influence of drugs last June in Butler.
