SRU sends students abroad during break

Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Scotland, Spain, England, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Peru, the Bahamas and Turkey are some countries Slippery Rock University students will be visiting during their spring break.

More than 370 students will participate in 21 separate study abroad experiences during the March 8 to 15 spring semester break.

This year’s program includes nine separate classes going to Italy, two to France, Spain and Ireland, with the other countries receiving single groups of SRU students.

“These programs, which allow our students to study on campus throughout the semester, then spend their entire spring break in an international country visiting and learning at sites covered in their course, are remarkable experiences,” said Philip Way, SRU provost and vice president for academic and student affairs.

“In talking with students who have participated in past years, they tell me the international experience has been transformational in their college careers. It gives them new insights, vast cultural experiences and the sense of world travel that certainly enhances their overall studies at SRU,” he said.

Courses include: photojournalism, business, art, history, dance, music, political science, exercise and rehabilitative science, communication, elementary and early childhood education, physical education, geography and the environment.
