Butler Police11:27 a.m. Wednesday — Both drivers were hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Jessica D. Morris, 24, of Vandergrift, Armstrong County, rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 8 south and Pittsburgh Pike.Morris told police she momentarily glanced at her global positioning system device and hit the truck driven by Justin J. Keene, 20, of Butler. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Keene was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.Wednesday — An unknown hit-and-run driver overnight sideswiped a car parked on South Monroe Street. The car sustained driver's side damage from the front to back quarter panels as well as a cracked rear wheel well. Police believe the suspect was driving a red vehicle.4:04 p.m. Monday — Police charged Douglas L. Emerick Sr., 50, with possession of drug paraphernalia following an apparent drug overdose at his home on Sumner Avenue.Paramedics were treating Emerick, who was unconscious on his bed, when officers got there, according to court documents. Police said they found a suspected crack cocaine pipe in his pants pocket.He was revived with naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of heroin and opiates, but refused further medical treatment.Police said Emerick also turned over to officers additional drug contraband — a metal push rod for the pipe.Butler Twp Police12:38 p.m. Monday — Two boys, who police did not identify, were cited for disorderly conduct following a lunch period fight at Butler Senior High School.State Police, ButlerFeb. 4 — William G. Rinaman, 48, of Butler Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a Jan. 14 traffic stop on East Jefferson Street at the Honey Bear convenience store.Police pulled over Rinaman when they checked his license plate and found he had a suspended driver's license, according to court documents. A breath test later showed his blood alcohol level was 0.62 percent.Under state law, a level of 0.02 percent and above is considered intoxicated for someone with a license already suspended for driving under the influence.In addition to DUI, police charged Rinaman for driving with a suspended license-DUI related and a seat belt violation.State Police, New Castle4:52 p.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Perry Township, Lawrence County. The crash happened when a car driven by Tyler R. Macmurdo, 18, of Ellwood City rear-ended a pickup truck on Roue 488 just south of Mile Hill Road.Macurdo, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to an undisclosed hospital with minor injuries. Police said the teenager was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Benjamin M. Paff, 30, of Ellwood City was driving the pickup.
