4:02 p.m. Wednesday — Mechanical failure may have caused a three-vehicle wreck on North Main Street that left two people injured. Randy L. Dixon, 50, of Wampum, Lawrence County, told police that the brakes failed on the pickup truck he was driving southbound.The truck struck the back of two other vehicles, a car and another pickup, that were also traveling south. William D. Robison, 38, of Butler, who was driving the car, and one of his passengers, Xzavier Robison, no age given, of Butler, were both taken to Butler Memorial with minor injuries.Gilbert E. Claypoole. 48, of Summit Township was the other driver.3:43 p.m. Wednesday — Nicholas P. Powers, 30, of Pittsburgh, who was wanted on a warrant, turned himself in at the police station. The warrant was issued for an alleged protection from abuse violation.Powers was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.11:11 a.m. Wednesday — Storm M. Comly, 22, of Lyndora allegedly punched his brother in the face and mouth several times during a domestic dispute at a home in the 300 block of Wagner Avenue.The victim, 28-year-old William C.P. Parsons of Butler, was still bleeding from the nose and mouth when police there. He also was missing a tooth. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.Police later got an arrest warrant for Comly, who had fled the home. He is charged with simple assault.

Monday — Police charged Keith D. Anthony Jr., 31, and Kimberly Powers, 28, both of Butler, stemming from a case of suspected shoplifting last month at a Butler Commons store.Police said the pair on Oct. 29 teamed up to take nearly $170 in merchandise from the Walmart. Officers later nabbed them following a traffic stop.Anthony and Powers are both charged with retail theft and conspiracy. Additionally, Powers is charged with defiant trespass, and Anthony is charged with driving with a suspended license.

Tuesday — A blue Air Force hat was found at West Poplar and Spring streets. The owner can claim the hat at the police station at 337 E. Pine St.

Tuesday — Three chain saws and tree climbing spikes were stolen from the back of a truck at a parking lot on East Butler Road in East Butler. Diesel fuel also was taken from the truck. The theft happened Monday or Tuesday. Davey Tree service owns the stolen property.Saturday — Police believe two suspects are behind a pair of newspaper box thefts last week.A green newspaper box, valued at $250, was stolen from Casper's Market on Grant Avenue in East Butler. The coin tray, holding about $100 in change, was stolen from a similar green box at the Hilltop Mini Mart on Route 68 in Oakland Township.The thefts happened between 4 a.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.Police said surveillance video from the Hilltop Market showed two males using bolt cutters to cut the lock of a box at the store. The two are seen picking up the box and carrying it away.Both suspects, who appeared to be in their 20s, wore black hooded sweatshirts.Oct. 27 — A thief stole a Butler man's red Ford Ranger from a home in the 500 block of Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township. The pickup was taken between 3:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

5:52 p.m. Wednesday — Cheyenne E. Everett, 18, of Rimersburg was hurt when the sport utility vehicle she was driving crashed into two mailboxes, landscaping rocks and lawn bushes along Lawsonham Road in Madison Township.Everett, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Clarion Hospital with minor injuries. She was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.The Rimersburg Volunteer Fire Department and Southern Clarion County Ambulance assisted at the scene.

5:20 p.m. Monday — Alexander J. Alessio, 25, of Grove City was hurt when the sport utility vehicle he was driving rear-ended a car on Route 208 just west of George Junior Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Alessio, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. He was cited for careless driving. Susan S. Jensen, 62, of Grove City was the other driver.12:01 a.m. Nov. 5 — Kelley M. Huling, 43, of Harrisville lost control of her car and struck a utility pole along Route 208 just east of Diamond Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. The car traveled nearly 40 feet before ending in a field. Police cited Huling for failing to stop and give information after an accident and driving with a suspended license.Oct. 21 — A burglar used an unlocked window to get into a house on Woodside Drive in Pine Township, Mercer County. Once inside, the crook took $50 and left through the same window. The burglary happened between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Nov. 6 — Nothing was taken in a burglary at a home in Perry Township. The burglar apparently got into the home on North Camp Run Road through an unlocked door or window.
