9:40 p.m. Saturday — Stephen S. McClintock, 25, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly took his girlfriend's car, without her permission, from the couple's home in the 500 block of Virginia Avenue.Owner of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, Kristy Czzowitz, 24, told officers that McClintock stole the car after taking the keys out of her purse. She said he has a drug problem and likely drove off in it to find drugs to buy.Police got an arrest warrant for the defendant and posted information about the case on the department's Facebook page. A tipster saw the posting and informed police that McClintock had recently left a convenience store on West Jefferson Street.A short time later, officers found the suspect riding in a van. He admitted he took his girlfriend's car, the police report said. He said it was parked in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street. Police later recovered the vehicle there.Police took the defendant into custody. A search turned up a used syringe and crack cocaine pipe, the report said. Charged with a theft of a vehicle, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia, McClintock was placed in the Butler County Prison.5:37 p.m. Saturday — Ronald K. Musick, 45, of Butler is accused of making off with a tool set from the Kmart store at Pullman Square. Police recognized the suspect after reviewing store surveillance video.Officers found Musick at his home. He admitted he “made a mistake and was sorry he took the tool set,” according to a police report. Police recovered the stolen property, valued at $80.Musick, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with retail theft, police said.
Saturday — An unknown thief apparently is targeting newspaper vending boxes.A green newspaper box, valued at $250, was stolen from Casper's Market on Grant Avenue in East Butler. The coin tray, holding about $100 in change, was stolen from a similar green box at the Hilltop Mini Mart on Route 68 in Oakland Township.The thefts happened between 4 a.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Saturday — Police reported they are investigating the Oct. 19 burglary at a home on Sun Mine Road in Clinton Township. About $1,688 worth of items were taken from a garage there.The homeowner, a 49-year-old man, confronted the suspect, who fled. Police said the burglar was wearing a red baseball cap, black boots and black coat. He was carrying a green backpack. Anyone with information is asked to call police.12:15 p.m. Nov. 1 — Robert M. Hays, 42, of Sarver lost control of his sport utility vehicle and crashed into a ditch on Coal Hollow Road a little north of Ekastown Road in Clinton Township. The vehicle ended on its passenger side. Hays, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. A 4-year-old girl was riding in a car seat and was not hurt.Nov. 1 — A cross bow and an Apple iPod were stolen from a 55-year-old man's vehicle on Bicker Road in Winfield Township. The property, valued at $600, was taken between midnight and 6 a.m.
Sunday — An unknown vandal drove a vehicle onto the lawn of a 61-year-old man's home on Tower Road in Toby Township. The vandalism between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday caused an unspecified amount of damage.6 p.m. Friday — Two Rimersburg men face criminal charges after fighting in an empty lot in the 9000 block of Route 68 in Toby Township. The suspects — 59-year-old Terry A. Painter and 48-year-old Shawn P. Painter — were both injured in the fracas. Both men face misdemeanor assault charges.3:40 p.m. Friday — Matthew A. Shanor, 38, of Butler lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a utility pole along Route 68 just west of Five Pointe Road in Monroe Township.
1:02 a.m. Saturday — Tiffany M. Emert, 37, of Emlenton was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a utility pole along Riverside Drive just north of Upper Sage Run Road in Cranberry Township, Venango County.Emert, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Northwest in Seneca with minor injuries. Police said she was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.1:17 p.m. Friday — C.E. Tanner, 69, of Clintonville suffered unknown injuries when the pickup truck he was driving struck a tree after sliding off slush-covered Route 208 just west of Bend Road in Scrubgrass Township. He was not wearing a seat belt.Police said a friend later took Tanner to UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
1:39 a.m. Saturday — A man is wanted after leading police on a chase that started in East Franklin Township and continued over several roads in Kittanning Township. The suspect's Chevrolet Blazer eventually traveled onto a dirt path, causing troopers to end the chase “due to the dangerous terrain,” according to a police report.Police said they have identified a suspect, who they did not identify. Charges including fleeing or attempting to elude police are pending further investigation.Saturday — Police reported that a 17-year-old Freeport boy was caught Aug. 15 with a pocket knife at Lenape Tech in Manor Township. The boy, who police did not identify, is charge with possession of a weapon on school property.12:20 a.m. Nov. 1 — Teresa K. Drzemiecki, 51, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Freeport Road in North Buffalo Township.7:08 p.m. Oct. 30 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Ceciley K. Andryka, 37, of Kittanning struck deer on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.5:17 p.m. Oct. 25 — Mark D. Yockey, 25, of Ford City ended up with numerous traffic tickets after he crashed his motorcycle on Mile Long Hill Road in North Buffalo Township. Police said Yockey was going too fast when he lost control of the sport cycle after traveling over a hump in the road. The bike fell onto its left side and slid down the road. Yockey, who was wearing a helmet, suffered moderate injuries.He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, failing to stop and give information after an accident, abandoning a vehicle on a road, driving with an improper class of license, driving without insurance and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.
9:27 a.m. Thursday — Shane M. Guy, 48, of Painesville, Ohio, lost control of his vehicle on a rain and snow mix and crashed into an embankment on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. The vehicle ended on its passenger side. Police cited Guy for disregarding traffic lanes.5:50 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Sheila L. Cross, 54, of Kennerdell, Venango County, struck a deer on Route 208 in Pine Township, Mercer County.Thursday — An unknown burglar stole money from a house in Liberty Township, Mercer County, while the couple that lives there was sleeping. The suspect got into the home through an unlocked door in the attached garage. The break-in happened between 1 and 6 a.m.9:55 a.m. Wednesday — Hussein Salman Chouman, 52, of Fords, N.J., was arrested after he was caught with suspected counterfeit merchandise following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police said he had 25 illegal items.Chouman was arraigned on a felony charge of trademark counterfeiting. He was placed in the Mercer County Jail but was released Thursday after posting $80,000 bail.
