4:51 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Jessica L. Krahe, 33, of Summit Township and a pickup truck driven by E. Ernest Grochalski Jr., 46, of Chicora collided at East Jefferson and Monroe streets.3:04 p.m. Tuesday — Corey J. Shoup, 32, of Summit Township was arrested for a probation violation after he apparently overdosed on drugs at a home in the 300 block of East Walnut Street.Police and a medical crew were called to the home and found Shoup unresponsive. He was revived with naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of heroin and opiates like oxycodone. He refused further treatment at Butler Memorial Hospital.Police said he was later placed in the Butler County Prison.Tuesday — Someone overnight broke into an 80-year-old man's vehicle parked at his home in the 100 block of Standard Avenue. The only items missing from the vehicle was the owner's card and insurance card.
Thursday — Police charged Charles H. Texter, 55, of Chicora with illegally trying to buy a gun Aug. 12 at the Walmart at Butler Commons. He is charged with unlawful attempt to purchase a firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities.4:26 p.m. Wednesday — Brett E. Kreider, 26, of Cheswick, Allegheny County was arrested after he was caught allegedly shoplifting $1,195 worth of electronic merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons.Kreider was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and defiant trespass, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.Court records showed that Kreider has 12 prior felony convictions, mostly for burglary and theft, in Allegheny County.Middlesex Twp. Police1:30 p.m. Thursday — A box truck was rear-ended by a cement mixer truck causing the box truck to go into an embankment on Route 228, about a mile west of Route 8.Both vehicles were traveling east and the collision occurred when the box truck slowed to make a turn onto Davis Road. The driver did not use a turn signal and turned quickly, said Sgt. Randy Ruediger of the township police. The names of the drivers were not immediately available.Both vehicles were able to be driven away, and no one was injured, Ruediger said.
Thursday — A cell phone charger cord and about $6 in coins were stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Ridgeway Avenue. The theft happened between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday.Wednesday — A purse that was stolen four months ago was found but money that was in it was gone. The purse was reportedly taken around July 4 from a vehicle in the 300 block of East Main Street. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925
9:22 p.m. Thursday — Jarod M. Brown, 36, of Karns City was hurt when the sport utility vehicle he was driving crashed into an embankment after hitting a deer on Route 38 just east of Morter Lane in Muddy Creek Township. The SUV rolled over one time before landing on its roof.Brown, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment.3:30 p.m. Thursday — A North Carolina man lost control of his minivan after apparently suffering a medical condition and crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. The 51-year-old man from Charlotte did not suffer any injuries in the wreck but was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital in connection with the unspecified medical condition.Wednesday — Police charged Marissa N. Ehrman, 21, of Sarver criminally in connection with a car sale earlier this summer in Center Township.Ehrman is accused of selling a 1998 Plymouth Breeze to a 25-year-old Butler woman for $1,800 but failing to deliver and transfer the title to the buyer. She is charged with theft by deception, a misdemeanor, and failing to deliver a title, a summary.
1:39 a.m. Tuesday — A 41-year-old New Castle man was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on Route 422 at McConnells Mill Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Michael A. Lysakowski was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle with undisclosed injuries. He was wearing a helmet.The Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
