9:07 a.m. Thursday — Jouline Walker, 24, of Butler suffered minor injuries when the bicycle she was riding collided with a car at Hazel Avenue and Krut Street. Walker, who fell off the bike, ended up with road rash on her right lower leg.The car, driven by Amysue L. Miller, 37, of Butler sustained minor damage to its front fender and right side mirror. No charges were filed in the accident.12:48 p.m. Wednesday — Three people were hurt when cars driven by Lee R. Hockenberry, 45, and Justin T. Gould, 24, both of Butler collided on East Jefferson Street hill near Kittanning street.Gould and his passenger, Emilee Leight, 21, of Butler, and Hockenberry's passenger, William Lucas, 40, also of Butler, all were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. All of the occupants in both cars were wearing seat belts.6:12 a.m. Wednesday — Michael S. Mothersell, 35, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly pulled his arms away from police who were trying to place him in handcuffs stemming from a call for a man passed out in the 300 block of East Brady Street.Officers initially found Mothersell unresponsive but they were able to rouse him. Police, suspecting he was intoxicated, decided to take him to the station to sober up.When police tried to handcuff Mothersell, according to court documents, he “pulled his arms away and attempted to reach into his pocket.”Police said they had to use a “substantial amount of force” to arrest the defendant.Mothersell was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest and public drunkenness, and placed in Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.Wednesday — Police arrested Michael J. Javens, 24, of Butler on charges he broke into an apartment in the 300 block of West Cunningham Street on Monday and stole several power and hand tools.Javens was identified as the suspect in the burglary at Timothy Anderson's apartment after police Tuesday recovered the stolen property, which the defendant had sold for $46 at the S&S Variety store on South Main Street, court documents said.The suspect, before selling the property, told representatives at the store that the tools were his and not stolen.Police later spoke to Javens, who admitted selling the tools that turned up at the store but denied having broken into Anderson's apartment.District Judge Pete Shaffer arraigned Javens on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception. He is being held in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.3:03 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Gregory Beer Jr., 19, of Center Township struck another car at North Main Street and WISR Way. Police said Beer drove away after the crash. A witness, however, followed his car and provided police with the license plate number.A woman driving the other car was not hurt.Officers later spoke to Beer, who admitted he did not stop because he knew his license was suspended and he “did not want to get into trouble,” according to a police report.Police said Beer faces charges of hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and careless driving.

5:40 p.m. Wednesday — Stacy L. Bastian, 42, of Renfrew was arrested on bench warrants after she was caught allegedly shoplifting $59 worth of merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons.Bastian was stopped and searched. Police said they found her with medication for which she did not have a prescription.Police said she faces charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.Bastian was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrants that were issued earlier that year after she failed to appear at a court hearing in connection with separate cases for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and forgery.4 p.m. Wednesday — Gregory A. Soloski, 23, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $544 worth of food from the Butler Commons' Walmart. He is charged with retail theft.1:45 p.m. Wednesday — Richard Miller, 83, of Evans City was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 at Greenwood Drive. Miller was riding in a car driven by his wife, Lois Miller, 83, who turned into the path of a tractor-trailer.The rig, driven by John Lamont, 57, of Fenelton, collided with the car's passenger side. Richard Miller was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.Police said Lois Miller was cited for careless driving.2:15 a.m. Wednesday — Austin A. George, 19, of Butler was caught with brass knuckles while riding in a vehicle that police stopped on Wilkes Avenue. He faces a charge of possessing a prohibitive offensive weapon.Monday — Two unknown burglars, believed to be a male and female, made off with several items after breaking into an apartment at Carriage Hill Apartments on Acre Avenue.Police said the burglary happened between 3:30 a.m. Sunday and Monday morning. Stolen was an undisclosed amount of money, a money order, black leather jacket, gold necklace, three watches, a brown wooden trunk full of DVDs and two sirloin steaks.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.

Aug. 29 — An unknown thief stole a children's Little Tykes jungle gym with a slide and a red, plastic Radio Flyer wagon from a home in the 200 block of Blaine Street. The theft happened Aug. 28 or 29.

9:06 p.m. Thursday — Ian M. Moore, 18, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in the 100 block of Center Drive in Oakland Township.11:45 a.m. Thursday — A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township, spilling its load of garbage onto both southbound lanes. Police closed both lanes for about two hours. One lane was reopened but one remained closed until after 4:30 p.m.The rig's, driver, Harry J. Dora, 43, of Grove City, was cited for disregarding traffic lanes, police said.Thursday — Police reported that eight youths were charged in juvenile court in the June break-in of a home on Lake Arthur Drive in Muddy Creek Township.The suspects, who police did not identify, are charged with burglary, conspiracy and other unspecified crimes. The youths include four boys and four girls, ages 14 to 16. Six of the suspects are from Portersville, one is from Prospect and one is from Ellwood City.

Sunday — Jeffrey P. Sims, 36, of Ford City was arrested stemming from the theft of $46.48 worth of gasoline Aug. 17 from the Kwik Fill station on Indiana Road in Manor Township.Sims, a repeat shoplifter, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and summary charges of driving with an obscured license plate and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.He was placed in Armstrong County Jail on $1,000 bail, following arraignment.
