2:21 p.m. Sunday — Dina N. Flint, 27, and Jarrid R. Decock, 33, both of Butler, were caught allegedly shoplifting pop and snack cakes, worth about $10, at the A-Plus/Sunoco on West Jefferson Street. Both suspects are charged with retail theft. Flint also was arrested on a bench warrant that was issued July 28 after she failed to appear in court for an unrelated shoplifting case in May in Butler. She remains free on her own recognizance.

Tuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Stephen R. Bailey, 37, of Butler in connection with the theft last month of $200 from a relative's home on Arbor Street in Lyndora. Police said Bailey had been staying at the home for several days and took the money July 16 before leaving for the state of Indiana. Bailey is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft.8:37 p.m. Sunday — Shaneymay Hockenberry, 42, of Slippery Rock was hurt when she lost control of her vehicle and it struck a tree in the 100 block of Delwood Road. Her vehicle ended in a ditch. Hockenberry was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. The Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted.1:35 p.m. Sunday — Vehicles driven by Joseph Makuta Jr., 72, and Phillip Mennor II, 31, both of Butler, collided on Route 8 north of Butler. The collision happened when Makuta turned in front of Mennor's vehicle at the Route 422 off-ramp. He was cited for careless driving.

3 a.m. Monday — Janel Hein, 33, of Lyndora allegedly took a 36-year-old East Butler man's car without his permission. He faces a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.12:49 a.m. July 27 — Kathleen M. Dockum, 18, of Worthington was arrested for driving under the influence on Hansen Avenue in Butler. In addition to DUI, Dockum is charged with driving under the influence by a minor, disregarding traffic lanes, making an improper left turn and careless driving.

4:30 p.m. Tuesday — Loyal L. White, 62, of Ford City lost control of his pickup truck when the brakes failed and it crashed into an embankment on Route 66 at Stitt Hill Road in Manor Township.

12:48 p.m. Sunday — Benjamin A. Swogger, 20, of Clarks Mills was arrested after he allegedly choked, punched and kicked his girlfriend, Jessica K. Riley, 20, of Greenville, during a domestic dispute at a home on Hadley Road in Perry Township. Riley was taken to UPMC Greenville hospital with undisclosed injuries. Swogger's state parole officer arrested him near the home. He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Mercer County Jail on $5,000 bail.

3:25 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The wreck happened when a car driven by Mia L. Digiammarino, 20, of New Castle sideswiped another car on Route 422 just east of Copper Road. Dianne M. Benner, 62, of New Castle was driving the other car. Following the collision, Digiammarino's car struck head-on a vehicle driven by Earl W. Wack Jr., 31, of Kittanning. Digiammarino and Benner were taken to Jameson Hospital n New Castle with minor injuries. All three drivers were wearing seat belts.Digiammarino was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.
