1:16 p.m. Wednesday — Two people were hurt in a three-car, chain-reaction accident at East Jefferson and Cross streets.The wreck happened when a car driven by Caminy R. Curry, 58, of Gibsonia struck the rear of a second car that was stopped behind a third car, which also was stopped.The second car driven by Stephen J. Isovitsch, 50, of Summit Township was forced into the back of the third car driven by John P. Rooks, 46, of Butler Township.Isovitsch was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after complaining of minor neck pain. James P. Rooks, 77, of Butler Township, a passenger in the third car, suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.All occupants in the three vehicles were wearing seat belts.Wednesday — Police charged Michael H. Cervone, 25, no known address, with stealing a Sony PlayStation 3 game console and a cell phone from a friend's home on the 500 block of West Brady Street. The property, worth a combined $619, was taken Tuesday.District Judge Pete Shaffer issued an arrest warrant for Cervone on a charge of first-degree misdemeanor theft.

1:31 a.m. Thursday — Rose Comly, 46, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant following a traffic stop on Route 8 south. Comly was later searched and found with the painkiller Percocet, for which she did not have a prescription. Police said she also had a crack pipe.Comly was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant. Police said they also charged her with misdemeanor drug possession.

Wednesday — An unknown vandal smashed a 60-year-old man's mailbox on Sunset Drive in Center Township. The vandalism happened between noon Tuesday and noon Wednesday.

7:21 p.m. Tuesday — A two-vehicle wreck in northern Butler County happened when a pickup truck's passenger side front tire blew out. The driver, Tyler S. Sestito, 17, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., lost control of the eastbound pickup on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, swerving from the left to right lane.The pickup struck a tractor-trailer driven by William J. Altoft, 58, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, who was traveling in the right eastbound lane. The rig crashed through a guardrail and plummeted down a ravine.Altoft, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.3 a.m. June 10 — Mark D. Lawniczak II, 28, of Templeton was hurt when he lost control of his pickup truck, which crashed into a guardrail, struck an embankment and flipped onto its roof on Route 322 just west of Bus Mong Road in Ashland Township.Lawniczak and his passenger, Joseph S. Bishop, 26, of Cincinnati, both suffered minor injuries. But both men, according to a police report, were gone when troopers got to the crash scene.Police cited Lawniczak for several traffic violations, including driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, failing to stop and give information after an accident and a lane violation.

Monday — A green, Suzuki Bandit motorcycle was stolen from a garage in an overnight burglary at a home on Route 488 in Perry Township. The cycle has the Pennsylvania license plate number TMD40.11:07 p.m. Friday — A teenager was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.The crash happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Alexis M. Toth, 16, of New Castle struck the back of a car at Frew Mill and Young roads. Toth, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Daniel J. Mathias, 29, of Portersville was the other diver.Police said Toth was cited for a stop-sign violation.
