4:08 p.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by James J. Scherrah Jr., 38, of Butler turned left and collided with a car on East Jefferson Street. Police said Scherrah was cited for making an improper left turn. Patricia L. Carli, 56, of Kittanning was driving the car.5:30 p.m. Wednesday — John D. Summerville, 39, of Butler was arrested after allegedly shoplifting $28 worth of food and drink items at the Friedman's supermarket on West Brady Street.Summerville, who has three prior convictions for shoplifting, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Thursday — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Stacy L. Bastian, 41, of Renfrew on charges she forged a check from a relative's bank account. The check, written on an account that had been closed for nearly two years, was passed July 20 at the Giant Eagle store at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Bastian is charged with a felony count of identity theft because the alleged victim in the case is more than 60 years old, according to a police report. She also is charged with forgery and theft by deception, both misdemeanors.4:31 p.m. Wednesday — Vehicles driven by Bradford Mooney, 68, of Worthington, Armstrong County, and Jacob Szymanski, 31, of Rural Valley, Armstrong County, collided on Kittanning Street. Szymanski's vehicle was towed from the scene.12:20 p.m. Wednesday — A thief stole four tires that were in the bed of a pickup truck parked at the auto service center at Walmart in Butler Commons. The unknown suspect drove off in a tan or gold Ford F350 or F450 diesel pickup with dual rear wheels and a matching color cap with a large, black brush guard.Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.

Feb. 6 — Police charged Dale F. Kleiner, 60, of Zelienople with breaking into his daughter's home in Harmony last week.Police were called at 5:09 p.m. Feb. 6 for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers got there and found the suspect gone but heard the alleged victim, 38-year-old Melissa Kleiner, crying inside the house in the 400 block of Center Street.She told police that her father, who she had no prior contact with for at least two years, forced his way inside the door, pushing her into a closet door, according to court documents. The woman advised the officers that she did not invite Kleiner into her home.Melissa Kleiner said she demanded that her father leave and warned him that she would call police. The suspect allegedly replied, “Do it. It won't end well for you,” a police affidavit said.She recounted that she eventually called a friend, who told her he would notify police. Kleiner subsequently left the house.Police later obtained an arrest warrant for Kleiner on charges of burglary, defiant trespass, terroristic threats and harassment.Melissa Kleiner, meanwhile, the next day went to Butler County Court and obtained a temporary protection from abuse order against her father, court records showed.

5:55 a.m. Thursday — Kurt W. Speicher, 28, of Portersville was hurt when the car he was riding in collided with a pickup truck in Jefferson Township, Mercer County.The crash happened when Elizabeth A. Speicher, 53, of Portersville was turning on West Market Street and was struck by the truck that Daniel G. Tyillian, 19, of Hermitage was driving.Kurt Speicher, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Sharon Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Elizabeth Speicher was cited for making an improper left turn.3:45 p.m. Thursday — Willie D. Suttle, 31, of St. Paul, Minn., was arrested on a felony warrant out of Wisconsin following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. He was a passenger in the vehicle.Suttle was arraigned on a fugitive-related charge, and placed in the Mercer County Jail.Thursday — Police reported they are looking for a man and woman, both white and in their 20s, who tried to steal a 55-inch television on Jan. 13 from the Walmart on West Main Street in Pine Township. A security employee stopped the would-be thieves from leaving the store with the shopping cart containing the TV and other items.The unknown suspects, however, fled the store and drove away in a maroon Chevrolet Cruze or Cobalt. Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
