10:45 p.m. Sunday — Charles A. Ragland, 42, and Lisa Kay Bishop, 46, were arrested following a domestic dispute at their apartment in the 500 block of South Main Street.Officers were called to the home and found the couple intoxicated and arguing, according to court documents. Both also appeared to have minor injuries.Ragland told police that Bishop scratched him on the neck and broke his eyeglasses, which cut his right cheek, documents said.Bishop claimed Ragland hit her in the face with the palm of his hand, cutting her left cheek, police said.Each defendant was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.12:08 a.m. Saturday — Brian S. Hollefreund, 44, was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot his wife during a domestic dispute at their home in the 500 block of Fairground Hill Road.Before the alleged threat, Hope Hollefreund told police that she and her husband had argued about her former boyfriend, court documents said.“Hope stated that Brian was going to shoot her and her ex-boyfriend with the gun from upstairs, which he was going to get,” according to a police affidavit.The defendant told officers that the gun was locked in a safe. Instead, police said, they went upstairs and found the gun in the dresser.Hollefreund was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault. He was placed in Butler County Prison and later released after posting $5,000 bail.3:39 p.m. Thursday — Francis B. Coy, 52, of Butler was caught with a suspected stolen license plate on his car.Police said they uncovered the theft after a woman reported an unknown car parked in the driveway of her home in the 100 block of Fifth Avenue.While officers were talking to the woman, Coy arrived and admitted the car was his and he would move it, a police report said.Police ran the plate and found that it belonged to a truck owned by a Butler business, Cunningham Shanor. The officers advised Coy that he was under arrest because the plate was stolen.The suspect, however, denied stealing the property and claimed that “some guy at Cunningham Shanor gave him the plate,” the report said. But he was unable to provide the name of the “guy,” police said.Police contacted business officials who were unaware that the license plate was missing from their truck. They also were unaware of Coy's claims, the report said.The suspect faces charges of theft from a vehicle, receiving stolen property, fraudulent use of a license plate and unauthorized use of registration.
Monday — Bradley M. Zulick, 27, of Lyndora was charged with selling hundreds of dollars worth of silver coins he allegedly stole from his stepfather's home on Butler Road.Zulick is accused of taking the coins, valued at $383, on six occasions between Dec. 4 and Feb. 5 from Brian Check's home and selling them at Skip's Gold Exchange on South Duffy Road.He is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.Monday — Police charged a man and woman with stealing a purse in Lyndora last month. Brandon S. Ward-Smith, 25, of Lyndora and Brandy L. Lane, 26, of Sarver allegedly took the purse and its contents on Jan. 28.Both suspects are charged with theft, conspiracy to commit theft, and receiving stolen property.11:04 a.m. Sunday — Keith Newman, 52, of Ford City, Armstrong County, lost control of his pickup truck on the snow and struck the center barrier on Route 422 west just east of the Duffy Road overpass. Newman was not hurt but his truck had to be towed from the scene.9:57 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Stephen C. Geddes, 47, of Butler crashed into a utility pole along South Duffy Road near Highfield Road. Police cited Geddes for careless driving and accidents involving damage to unattended property.8:50 p.m. Friday — A 15-year-old girl allegedly punched a 14-year-old girl in the face at least two times during an altercation at Skate Castle on New Castle Road. A police report did not indicate if the younger girl was injured. The older girl was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment.7:56 a.m. Friday — Both drivers were hurt in a two-car wreck at Whitestown Road and Villa Drive. The crash happened when Max T. Wilson, 39, of Butler turned in front of Charles Tanner Jr., 78, of Butler.Wilson and Tanner were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Police cited Wilson for making an improper left turn.
12:09 p.m. Sunday — Snow-covered roads were blamed for a two-vehicle wreck at Madison Avenue and East Main Street.The crash happened when Grace Schermerhorn, 60, of Harrisville lost control of her car and slid into a pickup truck driven by Scott E. Miller, 58, of Cranberry Township. Neither driver was hurt but both vehicles had to be towed away.Saturday — The Pennsylvania license plate DAL1440 was reported stolen from a vehicle on Spring Street. Anyone with information about the plate's whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-458-79252:22 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Pamela R. Cromie, 30, of Grove City and Shawn Taylor, 19, of Pittsburgh collided at West Main Street and Stewart Avenue. No one was hurt but Taylor's vehicle had to towed from the scene.Police cited Cromie for a stop sign violation.
4:02 p.m. Monday — No injuries were reported in a four-vehicle wreck at Route 8 and Shields Road in Mercer Township.Police said the crash happened when cars driven by Nicole K. Auvil, 16, and Kenneth G. Cooper, 57, of Slippery Rock collided after the teen did not stop at a flashing red light.The collision forced Cooper's car into two other vehicles driven by Beau V. Bell, 67, and Terrie L. Fink, 47, both of Slippery Rock. Three of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Police said Auvil was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.8:10 a.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Louis P. Rome, no age given, of Cabot struck the back of a trailer being towed by another pickup on Route 422 at South Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township.Rome's pickup sustained moderate damage. The trailer, which was hauling a 1946 Plymouth coupe, had minor damage. Andrew J. Clark, no age given, of Grand Rapids, Mich., was the other driver.6:50 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Sarah E. Sault, 30, of Duncanville, Blair County, crashed into a bridge rail on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. Police cited Sault for disregarding traffic lanes.1:55 a.m. Sunday — Ian S. McCue, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle got stuck on the concrete island at routes 38 and 68 in Summit Township.1:36 a.m. Saturday — Braden Bowers, 30, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Routes 8 and 173 in Brady Township.3 p.m. Jan. 30 — An unidentified vehicle, possibly a Plymouth, struck a chain-link fence along Buena Vista Road, just south of Cherry Road in Fairview Township, and did not stop after the crash.9:09 a.m. Jan. 23 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Ethan P. Ritzert, 21, of Chicora struck a large pine tree after sliding off snow-covered Route 356, just north of Hannahstown Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Ritzert was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Monday — Several vehicles on Butler Street and Woodland Road in Manor Township were broken into between Sunday night and early Monday morning. A small amount of money was taken in the break-ins.Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
Monday — Police continue to investigate the reported rape of a woman in Grove City over the weekend.A 30-year-old woman told investigators that her ex-boyfriend assaulted and raped her at his home in the borough. Police did not identify the 32-year-old suspect and did not release any other details.
