12:14 a.m. Saturday — Robert J. Wilhelm, 35, was arrested and charged with felony assault after allegedly attacking another man with a walking cane at his home in the 300 block of South Monroe Street.The attack left the suspected victim, Daniel Singer, with a broken facial bone, according to court documents.Police were called to Wilhelm's apartment for a reported fight. Officers found Wilhelm and several other people there.The others told police that Wilhelm had assaulted Singer. Singer recounted that Wilhelm had struck him with the cane across his face.Police said Singer had a bruise under his left eye, which was swollen. Singer was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and later to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for further treatment.Investigators subsequently learned that the suspected assault had fractured Singer's left orbital bone. The injury required surgery.Wilhelm was arraigned on a charge of aggravated assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Monday — A thief made off with an unspecified amount of loose change from a car on Acre Avenue after smashing the driver's side window to get inside. The vehicle had about $300 in damage.Police remind residents to lock their vehicles, homes and shed and to report any suspicious persons in the neighborhood. Additionally, do not leave valuables such as money, purses, wallets, phones and global positioning system devices in plain view in vehicles.1:43 a.m. Sunday — Five young adults were cited for underage drinking after police were called to a home in the 400 block of Highland Avenue for a disturbance.When officers got there they saw a large group of people fighting and others fleeing the house. Police also found some of the occupants had been consuming alcohol.Cited were Sarah Brennfleck, 20, of Evans City; and Dana Clay, 19, Aura Keffer, 19, Bailey Spatig, 18, and Hannah Wright, 19, all of Butler.The host of the suspected underage drinking party, Drew C. Miller, 25, is charged with disorderly conduct and five counts of for furnishing alcohol to minors.Saturday — Several vehicles were broken into while parked in the area of Woodbury and Havenhill drives. Unspecified items were taken in the thefts.5:58 p.m. Friday — Two people face drug charges after the car they were riding in was stopped for speeding on Route 422. A search turned up suspected cocaine, marijuana and other contraband.One passenger, Benjamin C. Ridley, 32, of Roopville, Ga., is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The other passenger, Marquise L. Wise, 23, of New Castle, is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Ridley was placed in Butler County Prison after police learned he was wanted on a warrant from Beaver County.9:20 p.m. Jan. 11 — Colton Wilson, 17, of Worthington, Armstrong County, lost control of his car, hit a utility pole and rolled over on Saxonburg Road near Bullcreek Road.South Butler volunteer firefighters were called to help clean up vehicle fluids that had leaked onto the road.

1:35 p.m. Tuesday — A distracted driver using a portable media player was blamed for a one-vehicle wreck in Center Township.Justine M. King, 27, of Grove City was changing songs on her Apple iPod and failed to notice the red light on Route 8 at Glenwood Way. She slammed on the brakes of her car but was unable to stop in time.King's 2006 Ford Focus went through the intersection and struck the curb before hitting a utility pole. The car had to be towed. Police cited her or careless drivingMonday — A vandal threw a green garbage can into the windshield of a woman's car parked on the side of Maple Street in Slippery Rock. The vandalism happened between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 11:30 a.m. Monday.

9:34 p.m. Sunday — Erma J. Hepfl, 50, of Cowansville was hurt when she lost control of her pickup truck and struck a dirt embankment after sliding on a snow-covered berm on Route 268 just west of Rolling Hills Road in East Franklin Township.Hepfl, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police cited her for driving too fast for conditions.

3:30 p.m. Tuesday — A driver did not stop after a two-vehicle crash on Route 208 just east of Holiday Boulevard in Springfield Township. The unidentified vehicle struck the back of a car driven by Margaret A. Premo, 23, of Rochester, N.Y.Police said the hit-and-run vehicle fled west on Route 208.
