9:47 a.m. Sunday — Michael W. Roman, 37, of Butler was cited for disorderly conduct after police got complaints that he was panhandling for money to buy food and cigarettes outside churches at North McKean and East New Castle streets.A police report noted that officers issued Roman a warning on Wednesday when he was caught asking people for money outside the Rite Aid store on South Main Street.11:10 a.m. Friday — Steven A.C. Vlassich, 26, of Butler was arrested on a warrant after he turned himself in at the city police station on West New Castle Street. He was arraigned on the warrant for felony retail theft and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.8:32 a.m. Friday — Nicole T. Finucan, 28, of Butler was arrested on a warrant after she turned herself in at the office of District Judge Pete Shaffer on West Cunningham Street. She was arraigned on the warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and released on her own recognizance.
8:20 a.m. Sunday — Icy road conditions were blamed for a crash in Oakland Township that sent a Chicora woman to the hospital and left her car damaged and in need of a tow.Susan W. Daniels, 59, was rounding a curve on Center Drive about one-half mile south of Thorn Run Road when she lost control of her car on the ice and slid off the road, hitting a fence post.The vehicle continued into a field where it hit a piece of farm equipment. Daniels, who was wearing a seat belt, went on her own to Butler Memorial Hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries.Sunday — A thief stole a Garmin global positioning system device and a Starmate satellite radio unit from a Slippery Rock University student's unlocked vehicle parked at her apartment complex on Cooper Street in Slippery Rock. The theft happened between 4 a.m. and 2:50 p.m.11:39 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Jean C. Stone, 42, of Pittsburgh rolled onto its side after sliding off ice-covered Rader School Road just south of Eckstein Drive in Forward Township.6:49 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Matthew T. Lisk, 30, of Grove City struck a deer on Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township.7:45 a.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Tobias K. Elder, 36, of Ellwood City slid into an embankment on icy Pleasant Valley Road just west of Moraine State Park in Muddy Creek Township. Elder was cited for driving too fast for conditions.5:15 a.m. Friday — Daelene M. Rodgers, 40, of Butler was hurt when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and struck an embankment after sliding off icy Herman Road just west of Levi Lane in Summit Township.Rodgers, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
6:20 p.m. Friday — Someone in one car hurled an egg that struck another car, driven by a 40-year-old Rimersburg woman, as the vehicles passed each other traveling in opposite directions over the Parker Bridge on Route 368 in Perry Township.The egg thrower is not known. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 814-226-1710.
6:40 a.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Andrew J. Crissman, 35, of Kittanning crashed into a concrete barrier on the exit 17 off-ramp of Route 28 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.Saturday — An unidentified vehicle between 11:15 and 11:55 a.m. struck the rear passenger side of an SUV parked at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart store in East Franklin Township. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.5:55 Friday — John Farester, 48, of Ford City allegedly stole an SUV at a home on Peary Road in Bethel Township. Police said Farester was intoxicated when they later arrested him.He was arraigned on charges of theft and public drunkenness and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail.
8:30 a.m. Friday — Two New York men were arrested after police found about an ounce of suspected cocaine in their car during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.Acedo A. Gustavo, 30, and Junior P. Nepomuceno, 29, both of the Bronx, N.Y., were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.The suspects were arraigned before District Judge Dennis Songer and placed in Mercer County Jail on $250,000 bail each.
