Butler Police5:52 p.m. Wednesday — James J. Tiani, 54, no known address, was arrested after he showed up at the Washington Manor Personal Care Home on South Washington Street, despite his previous arrest there Sept. 17 when he was told he was no longer allowed on the premises.Tiani was arraigned on a charge of defiant trespass, and placed in Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.
Grove City PoliceTuesday — An unknown thief stole an Apple iPod Touch and coins from a vehicle in the 400 block of McConnell Street. The theft happened between Oct. 10 and Tuesday.
State Police, Butler12:40 a.m. Wednesday — Two women and a man, all from Beaver County, face drug charges after they were spotted walking on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. A short time earlier, the trio’s car broke down.The suspects — Paula J. Wilson, 30, and Daniel J. Hall Jr., 31, both Monaca; and Barbara McKeel-Barrett, 35, of Rochester — are charged with misdemeanor possession.Police said Wilson was caught with marijuana and morphine pills, Hall had a small amount of marijuana and McKeel-Barrett had morphine.Wednesday — Police charged Austin T. Bowser, 20, of Bruin with drunken driving stemming from a crash that happened about 1 a.m. Feb. 11 when his pickup truck struck a utility pole along Route 268 near Eldorado Road in Parker Township.The wreck injured Bowser and two others in the pickup. Police, however, immediately after the accident did not know who was driving. Bowser when first interviewed by police identified one of the others in the truck, according to court documents.But in a second interview nearly three months later, police said, the defendant admitted he was drinking and driving the night of the crash.In addition to driving under the influence, Bowser is charged with underage drinking, careless driving, a lane violation and making a false report.5:14 p.m. Tuesday — Harry D. Maughan 58, of Chicora was hurt when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on Route 38 just north of Ball Lane in Concord Township. The cycle slid about 40 feet on the road before stopping.Maughan, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered moderate injuries including “road rash” to his face. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Police cited Maughan for a lane violation.The Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Chicora Ambulance assisted police at the scene.4:15 a.m. Tuesday — Nathan A. Fox, 21, of Cranberry Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed into a guardrail on Route 19 just south of Perry Lake Lane in Lancaster Township.Sunday — Someone overnight damaged a sign at Sower’s Chapel on Iron Bridge Road at Sarver Road in Winfield Township.Friday — An unknown burglar stole about $500 and a money clip from a lock box in a break-in at a home in the 500 block of West Main Street in Jefferson Township. The burglary happened between Oct. 8 and Friday.
State Police, Clarion10:42 a.m. Wednesday — A car struck the back of a pickup truck driven by Emilie N. Gates, 18, of Emlenton on Interstate 80. The crash happened as Gates was slowing down for traffic in a construction zone on the Clarion River Bridge.The other driver, Robert A. Gammill, 67, of Powell, Ohio, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.Tuesday — An unknown would-be burglar tried to break into a home on Route 68 in Madison Township. The attempted burglary happened between 1:10 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.
State Police, Kittanning2:55 p.m. Monday — A Templeton girl was one of two youths hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Valley Township. The crash happened when the 16-year-old girl lost control of her sport utility vehicle on Route 85, hitting and shearing off a utility poleThe SUV spun out, traveled along an embankment and rolled over four times, throwing the girl and her passenger, a 17-year-old Kittanning boy, out of the vehicle. Neither child was wearing a seat belt. The SUV landed on its wheels.The girl suffered moderate injuries. The boy had unknown injuries. Both teens were taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.Monday — A 40-year-old man’s son, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing a firearm from the family’s home on Bottom Creek Road in East Franklin Township. The gun was taken between 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 9:20 p.m. Monday.7:10 p.m. Saturday — Nick Shannon 29, of Ford City allegedly assaulted another man during an altercation at a home on Reesedale Road in East Franklin Township. Shannon is accused of punching Christopher J. Shaffer, 25, of East Brady in the face and threatening to stab his father. Police said Shaffer faces a charge of simple assault.12:17 p.m. Sunday — An unknown thief reportedly stole $285 from a cash box during a yard sale at a home on Church Road in North Buffalo Township.
State Police, PunxsutawneyWednesday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement reported that Hotel Petrolia in Petrolia was cited for violating the state liquor law by making too much noise by way of a loudspeaker, or similar device for music or entertainment.An administrative law judge will hear the case.
