Wednesday — Police charged Robert K. Stalker, 43, of Connoquenessing Township with driving under the influence stemming from a two-vehicle wreck about 5:10 a.m. Sept. 7.The crash happened, according to a police report, when Stalker's pickup truck ran a flashing red light and struck the passenger side of a tractor-trailer driven by Christopher E. Holland, 31, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County.Toxicology reports showed Stalker's blood-alcohol level was 0.18 percent, or more than twice the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to DUI, police cited Stalker for a traffic signal violation.Wednesday — Two vehicles were vandalized with black spray paint.The first case was reported at 8:41 p.m. in the 300 block of Hazel Avenue. There was spray paint on the rear window. The second case was reported an hour later in the 500 block of West Wayne Street. There was spray paint on the vehicle's passenger side.
Wednesday — Police accused seven teenagers of being up to no good and running from police about 3:40 a.m. Sunday. A caller notified authorities after becoming suspicious seeing the teens walking in the area of October Drive and Dutchtown Road.Several neighbors later reported damage to or the theft of yard decorations.When police got there, the suspects ran. Officers were able to catch two boys. Eventually, they cited six boys, who they did not identify, and 18-year-old Thomas Leith Jr. of Butler with loitering and prowling at night.Additionally, police said Leith is charged with corruption of minors. A police report also noted that some of the boys face theft and criminal mischief charges.
Oct. 2 — Police charged Anthony M. Ferrigno, 19, of Evans City with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop about 11:15 p.m. on Kline Avenue.Toxicology reports showed Ferrigno's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Ferrigno is charged with driving under the influence by a minor, underage drinking and speeding.
4:15 p.m. Tuesday — A cell phone was found at Memorial Park. The owner can claim the phone at the police station, 337 E. Pine St.Jackson Twp. PoliceOct. 1 — Joan Lisa Baker, 52, of Harmony was charged with drunken driving stemming from a near head-on collision with a police cruiser about 2:20 a.m. Sept. 14 on Seneca School Road. Police suspect Baker was texting on her cell phone at the time.Recently received toxicology reports showed Baker's blood-alcohol was 0.182 percent, court documents said, or more than double the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.Baker is charged with driving under the influence, texting while driving and careless driving.
Friday — Police filed misdemeanor drug charges against Andrew J. Rinehart, 25, of Harmony stemming from an investigation last month prompted by his decision to park his pickup truck in the driveway of an abandoned trailer on Little Creek Road.A neighbor became suspicious of the truck and notified police about 8:15 p.m. Sept. 22. Officers were unable to find the pickup's owner. The owner of the trailer was later contacted, and he told police the truck was not permitted on his property.A tow truck was eventually called to remove the truck. But before it was moved, police noticed a clear plastic container on the truck's seat. Inside the container appeared to be marijuana.Police seized the container, impounded the truck and got a search warrant. The container, documents said, held six baggies of marijuana and a marijuana pipe.Police contacted Rinehart, who admitted the contraband was his, documents said. He also told police he had driven to Little Creek Road to hunt in nearby woods.Rinehart is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and trespass by vehicle.
