7:11 p.m. Friday — Thomas A. Watterson, 33, of Jefferson Township was arrested on a warrant after he showed up at the police station and turned himself in. He told police that he saw his photo on the department's Facebook page and knew they wanted him on the warrant.Watterson was wanted on an arrest warrant on attempted theft and conspiracy charges in connection with an April 30 incident. He was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.
June 10 — Police filed felony shoplifting and other charges against Richard D. Townsend, 36, of Butler in connection with the alleged theft of cologne June 5 from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. When store security officers caught him in the act, according to a police report, he gave them a false name.Townsend is charged with a felony count of retail theft and identity theft.
4:45 a.m. today — A 22-year-old man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail on Route 356.The man, who authorities did not immediately identify, was conscious and alert when rescuers found him. He was complaining of pain in his left leg, below the knee.The man was reportedly taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County. Buffalo Township volunteer firefighters assisted police at the scene.
12:50 p.m. Saturday — Two people were hurt when the motorcycle they were riding crashed on Route 8 just east of Lakeview Drive in Center Township. The driver, Andrew E. Kamerer, 60, of Butler, told police that he laid the cycle down on its left side after swerving to avoid an unidentified van that abruptly slowed in front of him.Kamerer and his passenger, Theresa M. Kamerer, 54, of Butler, who were both wearing helmets, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor cases of “road rash.”Saturday — All four tires of a 28-year-old woman's 2007 Lincoln Navigator were flattened at her home in the 2000 block of Kittanning Pike in Parker Township. The vandalism happened between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 2:15 a.m. Saturday.Friday — More than $20,000 worth of concrete curb molds and other parts were stolen from an unspecified location on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. Brigh Contracting, an Evans-City-based contractor, owns the property that was stolen between June 16 and Friday. Police said they have no suspects.11:30 a.m. Wednesday — Two young thieves are suspected of stealing the transaxle from a mid-1960s Volkswagen Beetle on Buena Vista Road in Fairview Township. Both alleged thieves are white. One suspect is described as being in his 20s and the other in his mid- to late-teens.
3:56 p.m. Saturday — Two people were hurt when vehicles driven by Barbara A. Mahon, 71, of Pocono Pines, Monroe County, and Bradley R. Jeannerat, 34, of Slippery Rock collided in Shippenville.Police said the crash happened after Mahon ran a stop sign at Main and Second streets. Jeannerat's pickup truck struck Mahon's minivan at the intersection.Mahon and one of her passengers, Linda A. Boswell, 65, of Dover, N.J., who were wearing a seat belt, were taken to Clarion Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Mahon was cited for not obeying traffic control signs.10:31 a.m. Friday — A California truck driver was arrested and jailed after troopers seized 91 pounds of marijuana from his trailer at an Interstate 80 weigh station in Beaver Township, Clarion County.A state police vice unit executed a search warrant on the truck of Duane Love Willis, 41, of Carson, Calif. Willis was driving a 2013 Peterbuilt truck hauling a trailer on I-80 east when the marijuana was found.Willis was charged with a felony count of drug possession and related charges. He was arraigned on charges and placed in the Clarion County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.
