12:24 p.m. Tuesday — Dwayne R. Emerick, 28, of Butler faces a drug charge after he suffered an apparent heroin overdose in the woods in the city's Clay Hills section. Police said when they found Emerick he was barely breathing. They recovered a used syringe that was laying at his feet.A Butler Ambulance Service crew had to administer Narcan, a drug used to counteract heroin overdoses, which helped revive him. “Emerick stated he shot 10 bags of heroin,” according to a police report.Paramedics carried him out of the woods and took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.Police charged Emerick with possession of drug paraphernalia.1:19 p.m. Sunday — Kevin W. Smith, 54, no known address, was arrested after he showed up on the front porch of a woman's home on Zeigler Avenue and refused to leave, despite her pleas.Police said they had previously removed Smith from the property on two previous occasions within the past 17 hours, according to court documents.Officers arrested him when he returned the third time and began pounding on Loriann McKinney's door.Smith was arraigned on charges of stalking, defiant trespass and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.Monday — Brian D. Wickwire, 46, of Butler is accused of trying to hire two other men to beat up a 14-year-old boy. Police previously arrested Wickwire for allegedly hitting and injuring the same boy with a plastic stick April; 26.The suspect previously lived with the boy's family, according to court documents. He was kicked out of the home after last month's suspected assault.Wickwire blamed the boy for his arrest and for losing his home, police said, and that led him to seeking out the two men to beat up the boy. The other men refused Wickwire's offer, police said.The suspect was charged with solicitation to commit simple assault and solicitation to commit intimidation of a victim.5:08 p.m. May 10 — Cars driven by Ralph J. McClafferty, age unknown, and Susan L. Dembeck, 54, both of Butler collided at North Monroe and East Brady streets. Dembeck, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Monday — Police charged Phillip T. Anderson, 30, with breaking into a neighbor's apartment on Old Plank Road last week.Anderson is accused of using a butter knife to pry open a door lock and get into the home. Once inside, he stole about $180 worth of property including video game accessories and a half-gallon of milk, court documents said.He allegedly sold some of the stolen property at a store in the township for $53.“(Anderson) said he was poor and used the money for household items and tobacco,” according to a police affidavit.He is charged with burglary, trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

2:35 p.m. Sunday — An Erie woman was hurt when she lost control of her car and crashed on Route 422 just west of Bunker Hill Road in North Buffalo Township. Shelby R. Detore, 21, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.

May 15 — Police charged Dorene M. Giannini, 51, of Meadville, Crawford County, with drugged driving, stemming from a traffic stop at 5:19 p.m. March 13 on Interstate 80 in Shenango Township.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Giannini is charged with failing to move over for an emergency vehicle, careless driving and possession of marijuana.
