Butler Police9:48 a.m. Tuesday — Lee R. Hockenberry, 44, of Butler was arrested after allegedly threatening a man and making obscene comments, including one toward a police officer, following a summary trial at the office of District Judge Pete Shaffer on West Cunningham Street.Hockenberry apparently was upset after Shaffer found him guilty of a charge of harassment stemming from a Feb. 13 incident. He was ordered to pay $234 in fines and court costs.While the victim in the case was leaving the courtroom, according to a police report, the defendant told him, “You’ll get yours, crack head.”Officer Cheryl Litz warned Hockenberry to be quiet but he continued to yell vulgarities and make threats, the report said. Litz advised him several times to leave the courtroom.But he allegedly told the officer to “shut up” and called her a derogatory name. The defendant was arrested and later charged with retaliation against a victim, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.Tuesday — An unknown thief stole a Kittanning woman’s purse that was in a vehicle at the Kids Count parking lot on West Jefferson Street. The woman was working there at the time of the theft between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The purse contained a Barnes & Noble Nook e-reader and a wallet with bank cards. The stolen property is valued at $450.Monday — Thirty feet of copper down spouts were stolen from Aubrey Financial Services on North Main Street. The property, worth about $700, was taken between 2 p.m. Thursday and 8:40 a.m. Monday.
Butler Township PoliceMonday — Police filed felony and other theft-related charges against Simon J. Miller, 26, of Fenelton stemming from a suspected fraud case earlier this year at Sam’s Club at the Moraine Pointe Plaza.Miller, while an employee at the store, allegedly stole another employee’s credit card and used it to make four fraudulent transactions between Feb. 20 and March 27, according to court documents.The illegal transactions included purchases of items and cash advances totaling $310.Miller is charged with four felony counts of forgery. Additionally, he is charged with four counts each of identity theft, access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property, all misdemeanors.
Grove City Police4:09 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Timothy Wise, 48, of Grove City rear-ended another vehicle on Main Street. Paula Custer, 45, of Harrisville, the other driver, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Police said Wise was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.9:25 a.m. Thursday — Charles M. Miller, 42, of Grove City allegedly entered a home in the 900 block of Sunset Avenue by pushing past an ex-girlfriend. He then remained in the residence after repeatedly being asked to leave.Police said Miller is charged with trespass and harassment.
State Police, Kittanning7:25 a.m. Tuesday — Walter E. Mechling III, 42, of Templeton and Matthew T. Bursic, 53, of Freeport were injured when cars they were driving collided on Route 28 near Burtner Road in Harrison Township, Allegheny County. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries. Mechling was treated at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
State Police, Mercer7:54 a.m. Saturday — Anthony D. Walker, 31, of Slippery Rock was hurt when he swerved to avoid a head-on collision with another vehicle and crashed over an embankment on Route 258 just south of Jervis Road in Liberty Township. The car rolled over and landed on its roof.Walker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Thursday — A youth, who police did not identify, is accused of escaping from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township and stealing a pickup truck parked nearby.The youth was found missing from his bed at 6:40 a.m. Thursday. The truck, a 2000 GMC Sonoma valued at $4,000, was taken from the driveway of its owner’s home between 11:15 p.m. March 27 and 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
