5:12 p.m. Saturday — Anna R. McCandless, 24, of Butler Township faces drug-related charges after police were called to a home in the 300 block of East Locust Street for a reported heroin overdose.The home's occupant called 911 after she was unable to awaken McCandless. But moments later, the suspect left the house, apparently angry at the occupant for calling authorities.Officers found McCandless “staggering” on East Locust Street near the Butler Public Library. She was found with two stamp bags of suspected heroin and appeared under the influence of drugs.An ambulance was called and took her to Butler Memorial Hospital. At the hospital, she turned over a kit containing two hypodermic needles, a spoon, four more stamp bags of suspected heroin, a razor blade, tourniquet and 10 empty bags of heroin.Police said she faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.Friday — John J. Halagich, 36, of East Butler was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash and a police chase Wednesday evening.The chase began shortly after 5:45 p.m. when an officer heard a loud noise followed by metal scraping. The sound appeared to come from West Cunningham Street, where police spotted a sport utility vehicle that appeared to have front end damage and a flat tire on its passenger side.Police suspect the vehicle, which Halagich was driving, had struck two cars on West Cunningham Street.An officer activated his cruiser's emergency lights and siren but the suspect would not stop.Police pursued the SUV onto Chestnut Street and later onto West Brady, North Bluff and West Pearl streets. The vehicle eventually turned into an alley where it got stuck. Another police car came up the other way and blocked off any escape.Halagich is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended license, hit-and-run and reckless driving.

4 p.m. Thursday — Jason F. Boyd, 86, of Cranberry Township was hurt when the sport utility vehicle he was driving crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with car on Callery Road.Boyd suffered minor injuries but refused hospital treatment. Anthony C. Sklarsky, 20, of Cranberry Township, the other driver, was not hurt.Police said the crash, which remains under investigation, closed the road for about 90 minutes. Callery volunteer firefighters assisted police at the scene.

Today — Police announced they are seeking the public's help in finding an unidentified blue, Nissan car that was involved in a hit-and-run crash overnight on Feb. 15 and 16 in Jefferson Township. The car struck a fence on Great Belt Road just east of Bonniebrook Road, causing extensive damage.The driver left behind the car's front bumper, driver's side mirror and a large amount of glass.Police ask anyone, including owners or employees of auto body shops and auto glass replacement businesses, with information on the suspect vehicle to call 724-284-8100.10:05 p.m. Saturday — Theresa M. Zingler, 33, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, was arrested after she was found with illegal drugs and contraband following a traffic stop on Route 19 in Portersville.Zingler had pills of the anti-anxiety prescription drug Klonopin for which she did not have a prescription. She also had a suspected drug-smoking pipe.She was placed in the Butler County Prison to await arraignment on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.7:10 p.m. Saturday — An unidentified Hummer struck a car parked in the Trader Horn parking lot on Route 38 in Washington Township. The Hummer's driver, identified only as a female, did not stop. Anyone with information is asked to call police.11:59 p.m. Friday — Matthew J. Reott, 20, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and underage drinking on East Butler Road in Summit Township.12:50 a.m. Friday — Krystan N. Gurowski, 25, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of DUI after her pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a car on Route 8 just south of Euclid Road in Clay Township.Gurowski, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The other driver, Rachael S. Bienias, 26, of Slippery Rock, was not hurt.Dec. 13 — An unknown thief stole about 50 inspection stickers through UPS that were ordered by 422 Auto Sales on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township.

1:55 p.m. Saturday — The driver of an out-of-state tour bus was hurt when a wild turkey flew into the vehicle's windshield, shattering the glass on Route 422 in West Franklin Township just west of Worthington.The bus was headed west on Route 422 just northwest of Graff Farm Road when the turkey crossed into the vehicle's path. Joseph Rychecky of Oak Creek, Wisc., the driver, told police that two turkeys came out of nowhere. The first one missed the bus. The second didn't.Rychecky, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. None of the 37 passengers, most from the Chicago area, was hurt.The bus was carrying a group headed back to Chicago after attending a religious conference at Indiana (Pa.) University.

8 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Jennifer L. Polkabla, 21, of Greenville crashed into a ditch and rolled over into a small tree along ice-covered Route 258 just south of Blacktown Road in Springfield Township.1 a.m. Saturday — Rachel C. Kurtz, 21, of Grove City was hurt when the pickup she was driving struck a mailbox and rolled onto its roof after sliding off ice-covered Route 258 just south of Thompson Road in Findley Township. Kurtz, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.4:28 p.m. Friday — Melissa S. Quinn, 44, of Greenville was arrested for felony retail theft after allegedly shoplifting $9.32 in merchandise from the Grove City County Market at the Pine Grove Plaza in Pine Township.Police noted that the suspect is charged with a felony in the case because she has two prior shoplifting arrests.

Saturday — A suspect stole a silver and black minibike from an unlocked trailer during a burglary between Wednesday and Saturday at a home on Trusel Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Several pieces of scrap metal also were taken.2:15 p.m. Friday — The fire marshal's office is investigating a blaze that damaged a home on Portersville Road in Perry Township. The fire caused more than $20,000 in damage.9:15 a.m. Thursday — Chad D. Bollinger, 30, of Portersville lost control of his car on an ice-covered bridge and hit a guardrail after sliding off Route 422 just west of Old Butler Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
