4:09 p.m. Monday — Bryan E. Rosemeyer, 38, of Butler was arrested on a charge of felony shoplifting after allegedly stealing a pair of socks from one store and a pair of sunglasses from another store.Police were called moments after Rosemeyer allegedly stole the $120 sunglasses from Dittman's Eye Care on North Main Street. Officers a short time later stopped him on North Main Street.A search turned up the stolen glasses as well as the socks, valued at $6, that Rosemeyer had allegedly taken from the Dollar General Store on North Main Street.Normally a summary or misdemeanor offense, retail theft is upgraded by state law to a third-degree felony regardless of the stolen property's value when a defendant has at least two prior arrests for the same crime.A police report said Rosemeyer has two prior convictions for retail theft. He was arraigned on the latest charge and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.

7:55 a.m. Tuesday — Vehicles driven by Shawn Day, 39, of Butler and Bonnie Dykes, 56, of Ellwood collided at Route 8 North and Germaine Road. Police said Day was cited for making an improper left turn.6:20 p.m. Monday — Cars driven by Sally Snow, 62, of East Brady, Clarion County, and Charles Gamble, 64, of Chicora collided at New Castle and Hindman roads. Gamble was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after complaining of neck pain after the accident.11:31 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Christine Jenkins, 42, of Lyndora struck a deer on Route 422 near the North Duffy Road overpass.3:02 p.m. Saturday — John J. Halagich, 36, of Butler was arrested for felony shoplifting after allegedly stealing $1.80 in merchandise from the Trader Horn store at the Greater Butler Mart. He later was searched and found with suspected drugs.Butler County records showed Halagich has at least two previous shoplifting arrests.In addition to retail theft, he is charged in Saturday's arrest with receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

7:39 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Joshua P. Coppick, 21, of Greenville, Mercer County, crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Coppick was cited for driving too fast for conditions.2:50 p.m. Sunday — A rear-end collision between two cars was caused after a pickup truck lost its exhaust assembly on I-79 in Cranberry Township. Lawrence D. Nicklas, 29, of Clearfield, Clearfield County, tried to avoid the debris but his car was rear-ended by a car driven by Nathan A. Manfredi, 24, of Kittanning, who was unable to stop in time.Police said the pickup driver, an unidentified white male, stopped momentarily but continued northbound.1:10 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Lueann E. Edwards, 52, of Chicora crashed into a snow-covered embankment and rolled onto its roof on North Main Street just north of Hummingbird Plaza in Chicora. Police said Edwards was cited for careless driving.Saturday — An unknown vandal overnight knocked over mailboxes and newspapers tubes at several homes at the end of Aspen Tree Lane at Reichert Road in Worth Township. The vandalism happened between 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.1:55 p.m. Friday — Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Clinton Township. The crash happened when a car driven by Bryan L. Conner, 25, of West Sunbury and a sport utility vehicle driven by Janice M. Callender, 43, of Cowansville, Armstrong County, collided on Victory Road just north of Spring Valley Road.Both drivers and Amber L. Blews, 26, of Butler, a passenger in the SUV, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.Police said Conner was cited for numerous offenses including careless driving, a lane violation, driving with a suspended license, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving at an unsafe speed, driving without inspection and misuse of registration.1:15 a.m. Friday — An unknown burglar made off with a safe containing $2,000 that was in the basement of the Log Cabin Inn on Route 19 in Lancaster Township. Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

Monday — A car driven by Michelle A. Alworth, 44, of Parker crashed into a snow bank and a tree along Route 38 in Richland Township, Venango County.

9:29 a.m. Sunday — Brian Stephens, 45, of Ford City was arrested after he allegedly violated a protection from abuse order on Pony Farm Road in North Buffalo Township. The PFA had previously been issued to 37-year-old Melissa Stephens of Kittanning.Stephens was arraigned for the alleged PFA violation and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $2,500 bail.
