Sunday — An unknown thief stole a red, Craftsman lawnmower from a yard in the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. The lawnmower was taken between 1 and 3 p.m.6:29 p.m. Friday — Robert A. Morrow, 19, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting a Sony PlayStation controller, valued at $100, from the Kmart store in Pullman Square. Morrow later admitted he also stole a set of PlayStation headphones two days earlier from the same store, according to a police report.Morrow faces two separate counts of retail theft.

Friday — Police filed criminal charges against Michael J. Spears, 20, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, after he took a truck from the Almost Home Motel on New Castle Road without the owner's permission. Spears also is accused of stealing a cell phone.Spears is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft and receiving stolen property.

4:47 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Heather R. Decker, 18, of Sewickley, Allegheny County, rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on Route 19 just south of Johnson Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Decker was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Stacy L. Leonard, 50, of Portersville was driving the SUV.2:39 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Samuel J. Stone, 20, of Cabot struck a utility pole along Green Manor Drive just west of Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Stone was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.9:08 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Emily N. Switzer, 18, of Connoquenessing rear-ended an SUV on North Main Street Extension, just west of Mercer Road in Center Township. Police said Switzer was cited for driving too closely to another vehicle. Orlando S. Pride, 73, of Butler was driving the SUV.Sept. 27 — A steel cylinder and eight to 10 steel shackles were stolen from a construction site near 173 Rockdale Road in Jefferson Township. The cylinder is about 2 inches thick, 6 inches in diameter and 12 inches long. The shackles are 4-inch “D” variety.Sept. 18 — An unknown burglar stole 700 Johnny Clamps and 150 hairpins after breaking into the Gabriel Enterprises warehouse on Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township. The break-in happened between 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 8 a.m. Sept. 18.

9:50 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Tiffany D. Horner, 18, of Rimersburg struck an embankment on rain-soaked Curllsville Road in Toby Township.
