Today — Shane M. Bates 20, was charged with theft for allegedly stealing his father's 46-inch high-definition television from the family's home in the 500 block of West Brady Street. Police suspect Bates took the TV, valued at $800, on Monday, and later sold it to a Butler Township man.Police early this morning recovered the TV from the buyer, who purchased the television for $250.Today — Police filed a charge of bad checks against James W. Frame, 53, of Jefferson Township, who is accused of passing a bogus check for $750 on Dec. 2 to a 44-year-old Penn Township man. Frame wrote the check on his Butler bank's account that did not have sufficient funds in it, police said.12:51 p.m. Tuesday — John D. Dunmyre faces drug charges stemming from a suspected heroin overdose at his home in the 100 block of Third Avenue.Officers got the call and found Dunmyre in a back bedroom. A syringe, several empty stamp bags of heroin and two full stamp bags were found beside him, according to a police report.Paramedics had to administer Narcan, a drug used to counteract heroin overdoses, which helped revive him. He later was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.Dunmyre is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.11:59 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Zella M. Ballinger, 79, of Butler struck the back of a Peterbilt truck on North Main Street. Everett A. Kerns, 55, of Leeper, Clarion County, was driving the truck.Tuesday — A delivery man's hand dolly was stolen from Gorillo's Pizza on South Monroe Street. The driver for Goettler Distributing of Gibsonia told police he was making a delivery at the store when the $200 dolly turned up missing.A witness later reported seeing someone drag the dolly to a white car and drive away on Kittanning Street, according to a police report.

Tuesday — Police filed several charges against Matthew Grabner, 36, of Ambridge, Beaver County, who was caught Aug. 30 after running from officers who spotted him in the back yard of a home on Route 68 near Duffy Road. He was searched and found with suspected marijuana and other drug contraband.Police charged Grabner with loitering and prowling at night, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and scattering rubbish.Tuesday — Police charged James Longo, 22, of Butler with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, stemming from an incident July 22 at his home.12:55 a.m. Sunday — Salvadore Williams, 43, of Louisiana was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 8 South. Police also cited Williams for making an improper right turn, a flashing red light violation, not using turn signals and careless driving. He was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.Oct. 1 — Three boys were cited for disorderly conduct after a fight at the Butler Intermediate High School.

Oct. 2 — Police charged a Virginia man with felony assault stemming from a Feb. 4 fight at the Blue Ribbon Tavern on South Broad Street. The suspect, Harry Lee Kirkley Jr., 36, of Virginia Beach, is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault.

6:37 a.m. Tuesday — Daniel J. Dick, 50, of Saxonburg was hurt when he laid down his motorcycle and slid under a sport utility vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Knoch Road, just south of Lois Lane in Clinton Township. The cycle also hit a tree.Dick, who was wearing a helmet, suffered minor injuries.

Today — Police accused Jacob Amos, 19, of Stoneboro of vandalizing four metal mailboxes about 10:05 p.m. Sept. 20 on Triple Link Road at Fulmer Lane in Sandy Lake Township. Amos allegedly clubbed the mailboxes with a large wooden stick.After attacking the mailboxes, which caused about $300 in damage, according to a police report, the teenager got back into his pickup truck and drove off. But during his getaway, he drove into a tree. Police said Amos and a passenger, who they did not identify, ran off, leaving the truck behind.Amos faces a charge of criminal mischief as well as unspecified traffic violations.

5:30 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Nicole M. Barthel, 25, of New Castle rear-ended another car on Route 108 at the entrance to Laurel High School on Hickory Township. Police said Barthel was cited for careless driving. Kristin A. Rummel, 23, of Slippery Rock was the other driver.8:33 a.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Robert L. Smith, 35, of Butler crashed and rolled onto it side on Covert Road just west of the Stavich Bike Trail in Union Township. Police said Smith was cited for careless driving.
