11:38 p.m. Monday — Duane C. Hightower, 58, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend's 11-year-old boy at the suspect's Fourth Avenue home. Police said the boy suffered injuries to his head, face, chest and back. Hightower, who is charged with simple assault, was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.9:10 p.m. Thursday — Police were called to Butler Memorial Hospital for a man reportedly hit by a car at Short Street and Lincoln Avenue. Aaron Perri, 19, of Butler told police a dark blue or black car, possibly a Ford Focus, struck him as he tried to cross at the intersection. The car did not stop. A police report said Perri had a minor bruise on his left elbow.
7:43 p.m. Tuesday — Shawn Arnold, 41, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly struck a 33-year-old Butler woman in the head and face during a domestic dispute in the 100 block of Dutchtown Road. Arnold was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Monday — Police charged Matthew S. Kennedy, 28, of Lancaster, Pa., with cashing a fraudulent check purportedly from a Summit Township business on Aug. 3. The check for $269.99 was cashed at Friedman's supermarket in Point Plaza.District Judge Kevin O'Donnell issued an arrest warranty for Kennedy on charges of forgery, access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property.
Friday — Police filed drugged driving and other drug charges against Justin R. Spurk, 31, of Callery, stemming from a traffic stop about 4:40 p.m. Sept. 7 on West Main Street.Spurk was arrested after failing several field sobriety tests. A search turned up a plastic baggie with 35 tablets of alprazolam, the generic name for the anxiety medication Xanax, hidden in his shoe.A blood test later showed the presence of that drug in his system, court documents said.Spurk is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, 35 counts of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and possession of drug paraphernalia.
5:49 p.m. Monday — Cody Bowser-Stewart, 28, of Worthington was arrested on two warrants out of Armstrong County after a traffic stop on Route 238 at Exit 17 in Buffalo Township, Butler County. Police said Bowser-Stewart was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on the warrants. Additionally, he is charged with being a habitual offender for driving without a license, driving without a license-DUI related and other traffic violations.Sunday — An unknown vandal or vandals destroyed an unspecified number of hay bales using a Worthington man’s high-lift and back hoe near his home on Moonlight Drive in West Franklin Township. Those with information are asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
