Warrants were issued Monday for the arrest of two people on homicide charges related to the death of a 3-year-old Mercer County boy.

Felicesha Alice Brook Hardman, 32, of Greenville, and Wade Vince Daniels, 35, of Youngstown, Ohio, reside in the home where the 3-year-old boy was found deceased with a white foamy substance around his mouth June 27. Three other juveniles, including an infant, and another adult also live in the home, state police said.

Hardman and Daniels were each charged Monday, Aug. 10, with first-degree felony criminal homicide, one felony count each of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, child endangerment, possession with intent to deliver controlled substances and criminal use of a communication device; and one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment, controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession. Hardman was additionally charged with felony criminal use of a communication facility.

Police used phone records and interviews with Hardman and Daniels to determine the pair had left the residence during the evening June 26 to purchase cocaine, according to an affidavit in the case.

When they returned to the home, according to police, Hardman said she fell asleep shortly after 10 p.m.

In the morning, Hardman was awakened by one of the juveniles in the home who said the boy was not breathing. She found him in a recliner in the living room and carried him outside as EMS arrived, according to the affidavit.

In a July 14 interview, police said Hardman and Daniels said they had lost the 2 grams of cocaine they allegedly purchased the night before the boy’s death and were unable to find it. Daniels said everyone in the home had helped him look for it except for Hardman, who was asleep.

Multiple people in the home reported seeing the 3-year-old boy alive in the early morning before he was discovered deceased, according to police.

Daniels told police he spoke with the boy around 4:30 a.m. that morning and “he was fine.” Another woman in the home told police she had seen the boy during the early morning playing with another juvenile on the second floor. She also said the boy was not sleeping in his usual place when she left the home around 7:30 a.m. and she was not aware of his death until later.

On Monday, Aug. 10, Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati announced the child’s cause of death was ruled to be cocaine toxicity and determined the manner of death to be homicide.

Preliminary hearings for Hardman and Daniels have not yet been scheduled.
