9:09 a.m. Sunday — Sean T. Garde, 27, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, 26-year-old Michelle Bodema, at the couple's home in the 100 block of North Chestnut Street. Garde was placed in the Butler County Prison to await arraignment today on a charge of simple assault.11:50 p.m. Saturday — Daniel R. Burns III, 21, of Butler was hurt when the bicycle he was riding hit a parked car at Mercer and Pine streets. Burns told police he lost control of his bike when he looked down at his speedometer.According to a police report, Burns, who admitted he had consumed “a couple” of wine coolers earlier, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The car sustained about $100 in damage.Police said Burns was cited for public drunkenness and criminal mischief.3:39 p.m. Saturday — A Butler Township man faces several charges after suffering an apparent drug overdose in the bathroom at the Pizza Hut on West Cunningham Street.Police were called after 25-year-old Ryan Charles-Peter Mullen was found passed out on the bathroom floor. Officers said around Mullen were nine empty stamp bags of suspected heroin.A search turned up a syringe in one pocket and a glass pipe with suspected crack cocaine residue in another pocket, according to a police report.In his left sock, police said, they found 13 Xanax pills, an anti-anxiety medication, wrapped in plastic.Mullen was treated at the scene but refused to be taken to the hospital. Police said he is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.10:13 a.m. Saturday — A Butler mother and daughter face three charges each following a domestic dispute at the elder suspect's home in the 500 block of West New Castle Street.Kimberly Smith, 51, and Krystal A. Otto, 25, are charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.9:50 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Aysha Dellen, 71, of Butler struck a utility pole along West Cunningham Street. Dellen, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene for unknown injuries.
Saturday — Six people were arrested for driving under the influence during roving DUI patrols in Butler County on Friday and Saturday.During the two days, 156 vehicles were stopped. Police issued 48 traffic citations and wrote 97 warnings.Along with the DUI arrests, police cited two people for public drunkenness, two people for disorderly conduct and one person for child endangerment. Additionally, seven unspecified criminal summary charges were issued.
1 p.m. Monday — Katelyn E. Gordon, 18, of Bruin lost control of her car when a tire blew out, and crashed into an embankment on Route 268 about three-quarters of a mile south of Eldorado Road in Parker Township.Monday — An unknown thief made off with a Verizon flip cell phone that the owner had mistakenly left on a table at Lee's Place bar on Herman Road in Summit Township. The phone was stolen between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.6 a.m. Sunday — Jessi M. Short, 24, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly broke into a mobile home on Johnson Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said while in the trailer, Short got into an argument with a 36-year-old Portersville woman over child custody issues.The suspect is accused of scratching the man in the face and on the head. Short, who is in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail, is charged with burglary, trespass and simple assault.Sunday — Two mailboxes were vandalized on Browns Mill Road in Forward Township. The mailboxes were damaged between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:15 a.m. Sunday.7 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Carl D. Jackson, 31, of Boyers struck a utility pole at Branchton Road and McEwen Lane in Cherry Township. Police said Jackson was cited for careless driving.4:50 p.m. Saturday — A 16-year-old Prospect boy, who police did not identify, is accused of attacking a 36-year-old Prospect woman during a domestic dispute on Route 268 in Bruin. Police said the youth, who wrapped his forearm around the woman's throat, is charged in juvenile court with assault.Saturday — A green, Northeast canoe was stolen from a home on Prospect Road in Connoquenessing Township. The 13-by-3-foot plastic canoe, valued at $150, was taken between 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.8:16 p.m. Friday — Salina P. Chilson, 30, of Boyers was arrested for driving under the influence after her car traveled into a ditch on Smith Road in Venango Township. Police said two children were riding in the car. No injuries were reported.Chilson's blood-alcohol level was 0.287 percent, according to police report, which is more than three times the state's 0.08 percent legal limit. She faces charges of DUI and child endangerment.4:44 p.m. Friday — Three people were hurt when a sport utility vehicle crashed into nine mailboxes on a wooden stand along Mitchell Hill Road, just east of East Butler Road in Summit Township. Andrew D. Johnson, 31, of Fenelton, the driver, and two passengers were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Police said Johnson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for a lane violation.8:50 a.m. Friday — Gregory G. Kretzer, 18, of Butler was hurt when his SUV hit a sign along Geibel Road in Summit Township. Kretzer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the vehicle.Police said Kretzer, who was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries, faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed.9 p.m. Thursday — Zachary T. Staab, 21, of Butler, who was free on house arrest, was arrested again after a Butler County probation officer found him with suspected marijuana at a Center Drive home in Oakland Township.Staab was placed in the Butler County Prison on charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.8:15 p.m. Thursday — Michelle Macklin, 25, of Butler was arrested after allegedly assaulting a 55-year-old Butler woman on North Duffy Road in Center Township. Macklin was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.Thursday — An unknown vandal spray painted a sign at Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church on Route 58 in Marion Township. Damage was estimated at $200. The vandalism happened between Aug. 12 and Thursday.6:03 p.m. Wednesday — A van driven by Patrick Gorman, 43, of Scottsburg, Ind., crashed into a fence at a home on Badger Hill Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Gorman fled the scene. The suspected hit-and-run remains under investigation.Aug. 26 — A diamond engagement ring worth $2,000 and a silver wedding band worth $400 were taken from the Lake Arthur Golf Course on Isle Road in Franklin Township. The owner told police that she had removed the rings to wash her hands while in the restroom. The rings were taken between 3 and 4:30 p.m.
4 p.m. Saturday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Robert L. Milsom, 81, of Kittanning and a pickup truck driven by Michael L. Anthony, 39, of Worthington collided on Pine Hill Road in West Kittanning. Milsom, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning for minor injuries.
1:45 a.m. Sunday — Shannon E. Matthews, 25, of Sandy Lake was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 62 in Sandy Lake Township.6:55 p.m. Saturday — An unidentified vehicle struck a car on Route 173 at the entrance to Grove City Medical Center in Pine Township and did not stop. Police said the hit-and-run vehicle is a dark-colored Chevrolet Monte Carlo or Lumina. Timothy C. Winder, 53, of Grove City was driving the car that was struck in the crash.8:20 p.m. Friday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Edward E. Christie, 59, of Harrisville and Jeremy W. Wroblewski, 18, of Slippery Rock collided on Tie Line Road about one-quarter mile south of Enterprise Road in Pine Township. Police said Christie was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.7:13 p.m. Aug. 29 — Logan J. Stevenson, 24, of Grove City swerved his car to avoid a deer on the road and struck a guardrail on Route 208 in Pine Township. Stevenson, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said he faces a ticket for a lane violation.
