3:37 a.m. Sunday — A $50 microwave was reported stolen in a burglary at an apartment in the 100 block of East Wayne Street. The tenant told police she returned home to find the door handle smashed and her apartment ransacked.4:34 p.m. Friday — Vincent A. Stipa, 20, of East Butler was arrested after he allegedly punched 18-year-old Christina M. Lang of East Butler in her head during a dispute in the parking lot of a store on East Jefferson Street.Stipa gave an officer a bogus name when he was stopped walking with the alleged victim on East Cunningham Street. Police found that Stipa was wanted on a warrant in Philadelphia.Stipa was arraigned on charges of simple assault and false identification to law enforcement authorities. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail and the warrant.Wednesday — Four boxes of Girl Scout cookies were stolen overnight from an unlocked car at a home in the 100 block of East Boyd Avenue home4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 — A car driven by Theresa Cousins, 34, of Summit Township slid on the snow and struck the back of a pickup truck at Hansen and Goldwood avenues. Thomas Brucker, 43, of Penn Township was driving the pickup.
6:15 a.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Joann McHugh, 47, of Sandy Lake, Mercer County, caught fire on Route 173 in Slippery Rock Township. McHugh got out of the SUV uninjured. Slippery Rock volunteer firefighters put out the fire that apparently started in the engine.10:17 p.m. Saturday — Dustin C. Goscinski, 24, of Butler, wanted on a warrant out of Allegheny County, was arrested following a traffic stop on Virginia Avenue in Butler. A search also turned up a small amount of suspected marijuana and a marijuana smoking pipe.Goscinski was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.1:51 a.m. Saturday — Steven P. McGinty, 21, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck an embankment and rolled over about four times before landing on its wheels.McGinty, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries.
4:40 p.m. Saturday —Dozens of stamp bags of suspected heroin were seized following a traffic stop on Route 28 at the Buffalo Bridge in South Buffalo Township. Two Indiana County men face felony drug possession and other charges in connection with the stop.Kyle W. Rider, 20, of Homer City was found with 45 bags of suspected heroin. Thomas J. Bork, 23, also of Homer City, was found with 12 bags. Another 13 bags were found in the vehicle.12:01 a.m. Feb. 20 — A pickup truck driven by Thomas L. Toy III, 33, of Kittanning struck a cement barrier on Church Road at the Route 28 underpass in North Buffalo Township. Toy is accused of fleeing the scene, leaving the pickup behind. He was cited for a lane violation, driving with a suspended license, abandoning a vehicle on the road and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.
11:45 a.m. Friday — Deidra L. Stiffy, 22, of Grove City was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a ditch on Mercer-Grove City Road in Findley Township. Stiffy, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. She was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, driving without insurance and not wearing a seat belt.8:05 a.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Lauren A. Jacobs, 23, of Mercer struck a tree along snow-covered Springfield Church Road near Jervis Lake Road in Pine Township. She was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
