James C. 'Jay' Stirling

James Curtis "Jay" Stirling went to heaven and was reunited with Alice Marie Eckels Stirling, the mother of their sons, Saturday.

He was a Presbyterian.

Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He served his community through the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company and as a Butler County deputy sheriff.

Jim played steel guitar at the WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling, W.Va.

He then was a Pennsylvania State Police officer before he became an electrician with I.B.E.W., where he was known as "Cotton Candy." He retired from Local 10. He owned and operated A.M. Stirling Electric.

Jim enjoyed life, people and country music, so he enjoyed the time he spent as a tour director, the Friday night dances at the Tanglewood Senior Center, Butler, and sharing jokes.

Surviving are his wife, Sara A. Cain Stirling, whom he married Sept. 30, 2006; his two sons, James C. (Anna Marie) Stirling Jr. of Meridian and David C. (Linda) Stirling of Butler; his three grandchildren, Matthew Stirling of Meridian, Carolyn Stirling of Meridian and Brittany Stirling of Butler; five stepchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Alice Marie Eckels Stirling, who died Dec. 25, 1995.

<B>STIRLING</B> — Friends of James Curtis "Jay" Stirling, who died Saturday, May 2, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.<B> </B>Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
